Inspired by that geezer in Australia on the telly last night living up on restoration island (apt name for here) one mile offshore and 300 miles from a supermarket and all, I thought, i'd fancy a bit of that only on a British scale............ whats the remotest place some of us have camped in our busses? I suppose I should include Europe as well. Well? Where yer bin then? Afraid the remostist i've been is where I live
I'm not convinced with the continued expansion of the TESCO empire that there is such a place any reasonable distance away from a supermarket of some sort in the UK That said I guess some of the Scottish Isles may be fairly remote.
Wild camped but never really remote as in England theres not really anywhere remote anymore ,want to go Scotland though for a few months
Yes, it was Ben Fogle's programme last night. Scotland seems a good bet but then there's the midges and I don't speak the lingo wery well.....................................ahh, but i'm hopefully not going to see anyone......................but the midges Someone said Spain has still got bandits so thats a no no..............
If you PM me your E-mail address I'll send you the wild camping zipped file co-ordinates POI's that you can either put in google maps or your sat nav This is how it works. http://thelatebay.com/index.php?thr...4594-places-england-wales-and-scotland.13695/
Always fancied wild camping - but never found anywhere quite remote enough, however I haven't tried Scotland... I did once pull up at a small cove in Cornwall - not very remote but off the main carriageway and not a spot the police were likely to patrol. It worked out OK except I kept waking up with every little sound - usually the wind or the sea. I decided to find a camp site the next day. On a road trip round Scotland or possibly Wales it would be a good idea finding a remote spot for the night and maybe in Europe too. (civilised parts of Europe that is).
Sure you going to be able to unzip this file and import into google maps or your satnav. Theres loads of help on the internet if you neeed it ,just google it
I ve found that if you don't take the mick you'd be surprised where abouts you can "Wild Camp". A little discretion and respect goes along way. I ve a couple of spots in the Dales and the locals say they don't mind the likes of me, just there for the odd night and are tidy, its prats who hole up for a long weekend, make a racket and leave their crap. Go to the local and have a natter with folk. It puts a face to that old van down the road. Once in a while getting the beers in gets an invite from one of the farmers to camp on their patch
