Does anyone know of an issue putting a lowered bus back up to standard height? I have adjusters welded on the beam and the chap who was doing it said the adjusters hit the gear linkage so it can't go up. Any idea if this is a thing, are my adjusters in the wrong place or is my linkage likely to be wrong? Cheers folks.
Do you have a pic? Theres a few different types of adjusters available - mine is (unfortunately) fitted with a Foxsy adjuster which has a large lot of gubbins at the back which in my case clears the shifter but does come close. As a seperate note, does anyone know a way of actually keeping it at the correct height? Over time (and bumps) the van slowly dips its nose back down!!
Gear linkage can be adapted I'm sure. If the adjuster would hit it that could be a good sign because often they are fitted with a span of low to stupid low. If it will adjust enough to get stock or near you'll find you have no "horns" to fit bump stops to.
P.o. put adjusters on ours, but we got it as big airfix kit.. so when it came to fitting that last piece of linkage just took a pipe bender to it ..doesn't change the length enough to make a difference.. well didn't on ours anyway.. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
A decent steel pipe bender is £103 and the formers for 15mm are £70. Most pipe benders are made out of aluminium for copper pipe.. So the JK pipe is cheaper than the tool.. Or get a MAPP torch and use heat. Or slot with angle grinder and bend and weld. Go and watch the Project Binky videos on Youtube for fabrication skills..
That is a tad spendy. @davidoft got any shift rods? I'll try with a spare one as my fabrication skills are on a completely different level to Binkys @mikedjames
I adjusted one at techenders without even taking it off the van. They aren't very strong. The JK one has hard bends, I bet they are kinked and the kind of thing you buy before thinking FFS I could have done that with a couple of bricks.
As Z said.. think it has a kink in it you're just adding to the bend... I just used a boggo £30 plumbers one that we had anyway .. you can bend it on your knee if you want, or trap it in something and bend it round anything vaguely round it's really not that strong Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
If you go to a metal merchants with the outer diameter of the steel tube and the wall thickness, should cost well under £20 for a bit of steel pipe you could make your own shift tube with bends then when satisfied, cut off the cup section of the old tube and weld it on your nicely kinky tube.
I’ve got this problem on mine with a foksy adjuster. I’m not sure where JK get their prices from. The same CSP part is 89.50 at CoolAir or direct from CSP 99 euro (89 GBP) including 22 euro shipping. I need a carb linkage from them as well so there is a further saving buying that direct too.
Cheers folks. Does anyone know if this can this be done on the rear without undoing the big (46mm?) hub nut? @zedders, @davidoft ?
