Radiator mounting

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by 3TNC, May 12, 2014.

  1. No, it works fine because of the fans. At motorway speed at this time of year it sits just below 80 degrees. During the summer in sunny France it should still be well within its operating capacity.

  3. Not sure yet. All last year I had it on the winter setting, and it was fine - although I don't know what temperature it reached because the temp gauge wasn't working half the time. I also didn't really use it during the really hot parts of the year (although not deliberately).

This year it will get a proper test as we're using it in hot parts of France on our holiday. However on the M6 to Stanford Hall the other week, it had no problems doing 70mph.

  4. Cheers @baybirmingham - if that's the case then I can't see you having any issues through France with the scoop on summer setting.
Would be good to read or hear any feedback regarding this.

Mine'll be trecking through France this year with the same set up as above.
I've got no worries about the cooling.

Bay birmingham do u think haveing your air intake below the vent makes a difference

  10. It may do. Cold air feed to the air intake in an engine is generally a good thing - cold air = denser, which is why the hot hatch boys like mounting a cold air feed in the front bumper. And it's why a front mounted intercooler on a forced induction engine is better than a top-mounted one. Of course it's not good when you get carb icing on a single carb, but these are fuel-injected engines.

3tcn sorry for highjacking your thread

I wonder if it will make a difference i can tell .
It may just be better for the engine but without me knowing

  14. @kev - never a problem mate, hijack away as it's still on topic and it begs new questions and answers.
Will be interesting to find out if it does make a difference.
Hope to be starting on those bits in a few weeks when it gets here.

  15. @baybirmingham - you said you have 2 Kenlowes above your rad, roughly what is the depth of these - looking on eBay at a pair that are approx 2.5" deep, 85W 10" round.

  16. I'm not sure, I didn't fit them, and my bus is at Fellows' at the moment so I can't check. Fellows' website describes them as 10" and 12" slimline, but no further information apart from that.

  17. Ahh ok mate, thanks anyway.
