Maybe being a bit over cautious but thought I best check. I noticed the other day that the fuel line from the pump to carb did not have a clamp on it (see pic below), so thought I had best fit one. So today I pulled the hose off and slipped the clamp over and pushed it back on.Had to do this twice as the first time I could not get to the screw (doh). Anyhow, while the pipe was off, there was a small leak of petrol before I got the hose back on. I did have some tissue stuffed underneath which caught most of it. The rest has now evaporated. Do I need to do anything else ? Thought about water but it is so close to the dizzy I did not want to get water in the electrics. Guess I just need some peace of mind before I start the engine up. Ta.
see the special clip on the other pipe ,these are specially made for fuel lines ,juberlee clips are ok but not the best...[they dig in more]
It's more that they can clamp un-evenly, and allow fuel to leak out, as opposed to digging in more... but it's usually the fuel line that has had jubilee clips on that has gone bad and has started to split out!!
I know about on the right the pipe, its back on now... But just wondering about the fuel thing on the left, para mentioned it and its fot me worried... What are your opinions??
Its your fuel filter tiny it need moving to below the fuel tank where vw intended it to be and you need to replace those jubilee clips with proper fuel pipe clamps
I dont want to sound like im niggling tiny but theres a few more things in your engine bay that need sorting aswell
this was last year... but the only pic i have... this is why i need your opinions...im glad you mentioned it because i really dont know what is right and what is wrong... x i'll ask him to move it asap...
All the fuel pipe connections have fuel clips on by the look of that picture - the jubilee clip is on the vac hose.
Excuse an irrelevant question, but what is that thing on the right, the blue thing where the battery goes? Do other T1 engines have them?
Its the bracket for the original air filter housing but its been chopped in half Presumably because the bus had twin carbs at some point in its life and it had to be chopped down to clear the right hand side carb
Well spotted - I missed that one (I also had to squint twice when I went to look back at it just now too).
