Powder coating my calipers....?

  1. The guy who does my powder coating does work for a Porsche owners club, coating 911 calliper sets back to original colour. They look fantastic when they are done. I have the option to have mine done at £80 the pair and he'll do the rear drums too. Worth doing?
    :)

  2. Don't see why not most paint them anyway might as well have a good job done of it . Mine are painted in two pack black as I have loads in the shed but I was going down the powder coating route

  3. your on mega bucks, why not... >:D

    mine are rust coloured... 8)

  4. Just found a guy that will powder coat my wheels for £25 each. I haven't seen his work yet, but if it's shoddy is it something that would be immediately obvious or do you only find out months down the line?

  5. What you up too,,making a trailer queen ? :)

You sure he is using powder coat?

Mine uses high temperature paint for the calipers as they get too hot for powder coating.

Agree - powder coating is a slippery slope - thus far I am on wheels, rear irons and bellypan!!!

  9. refurbing my brake calipers is already on my winter project list and i havent even finished the bus yet :)

As Moons says, dont the brakes get too hot for powder coating? also is that £80 to strip, clean and powder coat or would you have to strip and clean the brakes yourself?

  10. To powder coat it has to be heated up anyway so I don't think it will burn of on the callipers that easy

  13. Ive painted many brake callipers with enamel paint and never had it peel or discolour from getting hot
So maybe thats an avenue you can explore if you dont go for powder coat joker

  14. I could happen I'm not to sure my powder coater can also Teflon coat things for me and that takes some heat as I'm doing my exhaust in it maybe orange lol

  16. sounds painful to me ....

  17. Niall, i presume that if done for Porsche then the powder coating is brake fluid resistant?

the previous owner of my porsche brakes painted over the original and i spilt a little brake fluid when bleeding and its stripped the paint off. is this an issue with powdercoating?
