Poor idle when warm 1600 engine 34 solex carb

  1. Hi

I was just wondering what could be the cause of a poor idle once the van has warmed up? I did about 50 mile trip the other day once I stopped the van for a while I found the idle was really poor.

Once I did a few miles left foot braking to keep it idling it was ok again.

    Any ideas?
    Cheers

  2. Could be dirty fuel, have you checked/changed your filter just to make sure?

  3. Thanks I will swapit but its quite new

  4. serviced/tuned the engine recently??

  5. Does it idle poorly once of choke or when the engines got hot?
You could have have an air leak on the inlet side

If it won't idle once the choke is off try blowing out the idle jet with an air line,

  7. Mine used to do this when I had been going downhill for a while, I assumed it was too much fuel or rich a mixture, after driven normally for a bit it would be ok

Worth cleaning out the jets though

  8. I haven'd had it serviced yet, its on my todo list when I have time.

When its warm/hot it will idle fine its just once its been turned off for 10 mins or so when hot.

Are the carbs easy to clean strip down? quite happy to try that and clean out the jets.

  9. Hmmm, sounds a little like a sticky choke...

Not sure what you have fitted but may be worth a look

Sorry mate misunderstood the question, sounds a bit vapour lock cum heatsoaky, have you got an electric pump?
