Anyone had any issues with them lately?? I've not fitted one for a while, but last time I did, it certainly didn't have a 3mm gap between the sensor and the magnetic ring.... is that how they are now, or is this an odd one?? Ta
From memory ours fit really well and gapped up spot on, we had it about two years ago but only set it up in june ish. No issues to think about, engine runs sweet as owt! Maybe its an odd one out?
Well I'm gonna whip the dizzy out in a bit and have a closer look, as the van is running like a bag of poo
dizzy is junk took it to bits, tweaked how the pertronix sits, and I'm still only getting around 22° full advance... damn chinese 009s
Bought oo9 from acuspark was junk....bought one from cool air ...thats junk...the accuspark one is wobbly and badly made...tbe cool air one doesnt even sit right in the hole...borrowed friends one and the dizzy top is manky....joke bout them dizzys nowadays......
Had a look in a dec 2010 copy of volksworld, that 009 copy was £39... they're £54 now!! nice price for a crappy paperweight!! NOT
I'd like to see you make a better dissy, if you were four years old and working in a dark Chinese shed... Moral of story: anything old and German, suitably refurbished, is generally better than repro toot.
your right there mate......im gona take my dizzy back to cool air next week and ask for another .....cross my fingers, the next one works and fits ..
There lots of fake adverts with bosch in the title ...be careful...even the one i bought was advertised as bosch ...i knew it wasnt coz i read a thread on here ....but the advert did say genuine bosch with acuuspark lec y points...
Ive a powerspark vac advance dizzy with there electronic module fitted and its been absolutly fine with no problems at all Ive also one of the newer empi carbs fitted and the only trouble that has given me was poor quality o rings on the adjustment screws letting air past when hot Maybe i dropped lucky
yep para u dropped lucky loool....my new carb leaked ...dizzy dont work....top it off my coil is fecked today and not one shop would answer there phone to see if they were open or had one .grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Lola ran like a bag of poo. until the 009 dizzy fitted by an engine remanufacturer destroyed it's self and I put the old vac dizzy back on....I have acceleration and more power, vac dizzy is the way to go in my opinion, either old or new.
Fitting a Pertronix to a stock distributor seemed to leave a big gap at first. There seemed to be a small bump (I think intended to locate the points correctly) on the points mounting plate in the distributor that that stopped the adjustment from moving far enough to close the gap. Or if I got the gap small enough the Pertronix was leaning back a bit on top of the bump. I think I filed a small amount off the bottom of the Pertronix's plate to let it slide over the bump and then I could get the gap down to the thickness of the provided plastic feeler gauge.
I do believe the mk2 pertronix dont need setting, and dont burn out if the ignition is left on. i found my pertronix works well in my dizzy as the lobes on the centre piece was worn causing points to bounce. i did buy a dizzy compleat from pertronix, but never tried it, as the 1st one burn out as soon as i fitted it. they did replace it. i fitted a second hand pertronix in too the old dizzy, and its been there for over 2 yrs. I still got the new dizzy with pertronix somewhere...lol.
