  3. As a result of this thread, I said yes to the very next cold call I had telling me I had unclaimed PPI.
    They sent all the forms,
I completed them all and sent them all back and you'll never believe it...

I have never, ever taken out PPI.

I've a case with the Ombudsman going through, it's been with them for over 18 months, they've found in my favour but Barclays are still disagreeing.

I thought I had a clearcut case, as remember the day I appliedbin branch and was told the application would not be accepted without the ppi, the initial application/agreement form Barclays provided has even got the ppi box ticked as - not required, but they're being stubborn and refusing to pay up,

I think the claim is worth in the region of £6k+ So would be quite useful!

I went the DIY route on the credit card, just saw the word insurance on the bill one day and got to wondering, one phone call and 8 weeks later I got a return but they did say I would have to provide further evidence if I wanted then to go back further than 5 years .

TSB paid out a wedge for blatant overcharging on home insurance, I was paying £850 which was ridiculous so went into the branch to question it. they were able to do the same cover same underwriter etc for £225. I was given a telephone number to call, made the call at 11 am on thursday morning, the following day at 12 noon I recieved a call to tell me I was being refunded and recieved £3700.. no letters, nothing written, just refunded straight into my account ... Really dodgy practice..

I started with my current employer 30 years ago, during an induction along with a group of other keen and enthusiastic new comers I was handed a pile of forms that I was told to sign, each form authorised payments to be taken from my wages at source, including an insurance which has recently increased to £31 per month. I questioned it recently since there was no sale by an authorised licensed advisor, I was told it was a block insurance and everyone took part and that they didnt sell me the policy, despite there name being on all the headed paper looking for a signature.., I challenged that as a miselling but they brushed me off then never answered any further enquiries ..I intend to claim it all back if I can..

  8. Ive had a nigglling doubt for a while about a loan and credit card i had about 15 years ago, however ive no paperwork or records for them. Ive read all the bumf about doing it yourself but i never have time, so with the constant barrage of ppi calls on our house phone, i finally relented earlier and spoke to a company. I figured well if they get me something its better than nothing, let them have their cut, we both win.
It was all sounding good.....doesnt matter about lack of records......yes you will get £x (i was actually gobsmacked by the figure) typically with what youve tiold us...we will take 20%........blah blah etc.
    I says OK then.
They put me through to the legal team to start the process. The bloke starts off ok, then he slips in "and we'll need a £495 payment from you to get records from the banks, as you have none"
Now ive read enough to know that this actually costs nothing or is a minimal charge, or some such. I questioned him on it and he started his crap then so i told him to beat it.
Im going to make the time to do this myself now!
