Paras bus resto

  1. Thanks for the advice and letting me know the spacers being missing have no negative effect

  2. I was worried when mine crumbled that it would end up in a twisted mess but nothing happened. I think I kept my spacers to hopefully make some more one day but just in case mine got lost, can you keep hold of yours for measurements?

  4. Ok after a read on the samba I’ve convinced myself that a bush may have snapped, collapsed inside the hinge mechanism.
I’ve been through everything I can think of whilst the hinges are still attached
So it’s time to put my big boy pants on and remove the spring and hinges.

I’ve a mate coming down tomorrow to be with me just in case anything goes wrong.

Is it a case that when the spring bar has been removed from its locating groove and the tension slowly released
Then it’s just a case of sliding the spring bar out
Then removing the circlips and pivot pins and everything should slide out?

Follow your nose, the tension isn't all that with a bar, just impossible to handle without leverage. You'll be doing this  tomorrow.

You can see what's being done here, this is after the tension was let off. Stick your thing in like this and rotate downwards while lifting the end nearest the hinge, then draw it out of the slot.

  10. Here’s the rhs hinge arm resting on the pressed steel stop on the inside

And this is the lhs hinge arm with no spring or any other tension on it
Resting on the pressed steel stop

  11. Took the other side spring off and low and behold there’s a bush on that side that’s missing on the lhs

  13. Brain fart over thankfully

Now if I could find an arm with a knackered bush but the hole not elongated then it would save the hassle of welding and re drilling it in the correct position.

Then there’s the fun of finding some bushes or having some made.

But for now I’m thankful I’ve got to the bottom of the problem

That’s the louvred window coming apart ready to clean up and prep and paint.
It’s going to be a fiddly job with a fair bit of masking because I only want to paint the outside.

I’m also going to see if I can find the rubber parts in black instead of white.
Anybody recommend a place for that sort of thing?
