Since you have owned this bus I have bought one. You came over condemned it I rebuilt it used it for a year or two and swapped it for an LT and a beetle. In between time I bought and restored a beetle for my boy who crashed it a month after passing his test, I sold it to Matt peekaboo
I sold the other beetle. bought another T25 done it up and sold it, bought a doka and sold it, bought a bay I’m doing up presently, bought a T4 caravelle got it on the road used it and sold it, bought a t5 used it and sold it and you’re still doing the paravan!

Mate you got some serious staying power. I really hope you’re happy when it’s done you deserve it.

    I have a similar tale:
When @paradox got his bus, I was 7!

The journey can be as much of a pleasure as reaching the destination.

I've certainly enjoyed this journey, epic stuff with intriguing highs and lows.

    I can't begin to knowing
But then I know it's growing strong
    Was in the spring
    Then spring became the summer
Who'd have believed you'd come along

    ...all together now...

    Hands, touching hands...

  11. I’ve prepped and painted the outside of the window surround and a section of gutter.

  12. Well that’s a kick in the teeth

I can’t get in properly with any aggressive tools to clean it up.
I’ve killed a dremmel getting it back that far

  13. Have you tried Roloc discs & pads on a drill?

I got a few of the rubber holders so I could trim them down from standard size. It meant the sanding paper could curve over the edge to get in places and gave a greater clearance for the pads.

    Good luck.

  15. My drill doesn’t generate anywhere near the same rpm as the dremel, but these Rolocs have still been a really good purchase, especially for larger areas. I tend to use them first to save the dremel from too much work (I fried one too ).

Last resort is elbow grease - i’ve run out of that!

I’d be tempted to give that a few rounds of Bilt Hamber Diox Gel.
I used it on the scuttle of my baja which was heavily pitted but not bad enough for me to want to cut and weld fresh steel in.

  18. That’s my plan

It’s heavily pitted but I think I may have just caught it in time.

I’m going to try and knock the corrosion back as much as possible mechanically then lather it in phosphoric acid gel.
Then build it up with hammerite no1 rust buster flatting back in between.

It’s times like this I’d love a giant compressor and a media blaster it would save so much time and effort.

  19. I’ve got that section cleaned up the best I can and slathered it in rust eating gel

Do you think you’ve caught it before it needs surgery?
