Nearly 400 pages. Give me the short version of why you are back to bare metal in places. Last time I looked it had not been long since it was painted and you were messing about with a spare wheel carrier. It was due to go back to PW for some snagging. Give me a round up?
Hi mate I’m using military vehicle paint from here https://www.arc-rite.co.uk/anti-rust-military-paint-matt-satin-gloss To be honest it looks better in the pictures than it actually is It’s not an easy paint to work with as it doesn’t level out and it starts flashing of very quickly You have to work quick with it and try to make as few mistakes as possible and you also have to know when to leave it alone so you don’t make it any worse. It’s also a pain to sand once cured as it balls up and clogs the paper unless you wet sand. As it doesn’t flow out it also leaves an orange peel texture as you can see below. For the sort of look I want for my van and the use it’s going to get I’m fine with the finish My van had a very poor respray so at least this paint will help keep the weather out to protect it and it’s got zinc phosphate mixed in with it aswell. I’m viewing it as a waterproof high build primer When it’s finished I’ll run the van in it for a year or so to see if any filler cracks or any more defects show up Then I’ll remedy any bad areas and the van will get flatted back and painted in upol raptor on the outside.
Looking good, that colour looks better than the previous green, much more suited to the theme you are aiming for! Keep it up buddy
One thing I found with annoying filler cracks is that using a thin layer of the fibreglass reinforced P.40 style filler underneath the P.38 style white filler can sometimes stop them propagating up from seams with seam sealer in them .
Possibly I’m undecided at the moment I don’t know wether to raptor it or carpet it Or cover it over with board and upholster it.
The new workspace looks better than sitting with the sheep looking tidy mate Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
