I think you might have inadvertently created a competition to find the most trivial 'issue' a T2 has ever had reported.......
@GTE88 some of those are really easy little fixes and will not cost a lot to sort. You mentioned chatting with Dunc which is a great move initially.
Think I win that, with Jack’s Garage of London telling me I was missing a glovebox. I was presented with a very similar list as the OP (heartbreaking). They weren’t entirely wrong when they said it was awful, but they failed to tell me some extremely important stuff. “We’ll take a look at it for you. You’re part of the family now!” Told them I was broke and only needed a new section of fuel line (PO had used gas hose so it leaked days after buying ), but as a new one advice was welcomed…they charged me £300 for taking a look as part of the family. I’m no expert but an awful lot of that list is very easily fixed. Cumulative cost but the structure and underneath looks a lot better than mine! I’d steer clear of that garage.
Obviously my initial plan is to tackle the most important things - overhaul the brakes, sort the steering, change the tyres and have a look at the gearbox. Electrics have been on my list for a while so see what can be sorted there. Engine leaks is probably the next worry. Meant to be taking it down to Glastonbury end of June so set that as a target I suppose! NB. I thought this one was normal! Electric Fuel Pump Can Be Heard When Ignition Switched On ***DANGEROUS***
"Recommend wax polish". lol Sounds like it needs a good going over to catch up with what should have been regular maintenance. Don't give it to that garage to do though, they made that list to worry you but also to make the job bottomless - i.e. just keep fixing things until you run out of money. I wonder what you asked them to do? It reminds me of a few multi-page MOT fail sheets I've seen where when you read more carefully many items refer to each fault and in reality there's only a couple of things wrong.
There are quite a few easy fixes there. The main theme here is a complete lack of ongoing maintenance to an old vehicle that relies on periodic maintenance and upgrades. It’s old, these little things wear out and just need greasing etc etc, The dates on the tyres for instance indicate that this particular vehicle has been operated on a shoe string budget by several previous owners. Yes the brakes need an over haul, yes the steering needs a good tidy up etc etc etc. Engine and gearbox are a part of the maintenance and lubrication agenda, as are the leaks. There is loads there that you can do and a few items that need an alternative garage I’d think. Ozziedog,,,,,,,,, make a real schedule and just do stuff to it . It’ll be great.
With some modest adjustments, you could reduce the list by 2/3rds... Hopefully it won't be going to Mr Nitpicker to be fixed.
