Another one from the weekend, now lowered by 4 inch, new brakes, calipers, drums cleaned up, wheels painted black, ready for the centre caps. Still loads more to do.

  2. The vans now lowered and breaks replaced all round. Now for the rest of the work. Ha

  3. How did u lower it ? Love this bus

  4. Adjustables, thanks can't wait to get it on the road

  5. wow 4 inches on adjusters, did you need any notching or new shocks or anything or just got that low on adjusters? looks great lower!

  6. I cant take any credit for it mind, all done by our vw friend :) there was some notching required, not sure how much thou, need two new front tyres on as they are rubbing under the arch's :)

Hoping the vans going a get a mean and moody look :)

  7. Well it seems after weeks and weeks of waiting for this that and the other, finally getting a bit of movement, side windows have been replaced, lights and most of the electrical stuff is done, went to put it in for its first mot, and the fuel pump is knackered, so ordered another one, hopefully have it tested and home Tuesday or Wednesday, then the fun bit fitting the interior, oh and we have just over 3 weeks to registering it with the Dvla before a 1000 mile round trip to Glastonbury and Cornwall :(

Cushions are all ready to go in thanks to @delilah, heads have been replaced thanks to @threecountiesdubber, now I just hope the Dvla won't hang about with the registration docs.

  8. Beds in thanks to @Rusty Lee, leisure battery and stereo next, then back home for a massive clean up, then fit the rest of the interior. Will post some more pics tomorrow. :) docs have been sent off today with a hope and a pray

  9. I'm 50/50 on the rat look but I think the patina on your bus looks great.

  10. Thanks, it's a fine line between original history of a vehicle and a rusty van.

I think ours falls on the former :)

  11. Well the van passed its MOT Thursday, so sent the paper work to Dvla, (hope there efficient in my case)

So finally got the van home today and started with cleaning at least 10 years of muck and grime off, started with a basic wash of the exterior prior to Ankor waxing it in a few days.

Started in the cab area, and took me hours to get it looking good, bloody fiddly bits everywhere with sand and dry muck in, brought it back to a good shine with some exterior bumper back to black stuff.

Painted the cab floor area ready for the cab mat.

What do people put under there cab mat, just straight on metal?

Boarded out the main floor area, ready for the rest of the cleaning and interior stuff.

  12. Well after getting ripped off by the local fair this morning for a few hours, managed to get a few more hours on the van, laid out some silent coat on the panels of the van, and started fitting some of the door cards, cleaned up the headlining, fitted the rear view mirror and sunvisors, pretty much just waiting to fit the vinyl and carpet, then carry on with the list of jobs.

  15. Nice ain't it, expecting it to go a darker colour when I've Ankor waxed it :)

  16. Another day of graft on the van, well not for me (I've been at work) but my wife, and her sister and my little lad have been lightly sanding the van all day ready for the ankor wax, managed to fit the carpet and Lino after work and got a few more finishing touches, really coming together now.

Nothing from the Dvla thou, phoned them today and they advised that I should have them within 10 days, do Dvla count Saturday's as working days :)

  17. Just phones the DVLA to see how the application was going, wood woop, it's been accepted with historic tax and we've been given a F reg plate, happy happy days. Just waiting for the letter now.

Has anyone got any recommendations where to get black and silver plates?
