That's not the vans new chassis :)

Anyone know what's happening with the historic tax this year, is it as expected going to be the 40 year rolling thing, I.e cars over 40 will be able to claim historic tax :)

Does anyone want a original really good condition microbus bench? :) might keep it for the garage mind :)

    Cheers

'74 cars become tax free from April this year - depends on new government whether this rolled on .

  6. Chere's guys,
We're going to keep the patina like that, going to try anchor wax, I think, then re spray next year.

Depending on which government is in charge then, hopefully they will keep it rolling into this April. :)

  9. Thanks, I love the engine bay lid etc

Yeah im swaying on not re spraying, the main thing that concerns me is protecting it,

Any ideas on clear coat, basically just brush it on over the rusty bits?
heard some not nice things about anchor wax.

what about clear lacquer, would that work?

  11. rub all the rough bits off with scotch pads and water, then clean it with pre paint and then clear lacqure it matt lacquer or maybe satin would work to bring out the deep colours but please dont erase all that history and age??

ps watch fast and loud on discovery and see how they clear coat most of their cars!

    Nice van Dan :)

Let me know if you clear coat yours please as I was going to anchor wax mine but I've been told if you want to paint later it's v v difficult.

Mines starting to rust, I'm going to give it a clear coat blow-over it if I can find time.

No anchor wax, it seeps into everything and reacts if painted over even a microscopic bit. Anchor wax isn't just for christmas. ;) I (sensibly?) bought a van where the patina if you will, is scratches and dents so not much to go rusty. It'll be fairly simple to treat the rusty bits and lacquer. They do this to winning ralley cars over the mud and everything! Whether it'll keep rust at bay or more likely bubble up under the clear remains to be seen.

  17. yeah I heard that about anchor wax, there is patches that will be sanded back a little to remove some of the surface rust, so I think I will try the clear coat and keep an eye on it, did you cover everywhere in the clear stuff, or just the necessary places?

  18. It looks rubbish. Get it bare metal resprayed - 10k should sort it (I am of course joking)
