Hmmm, thanks Tony. Just another small matter to worry about then but really too late now as it's due to arrive later in May. I see from Wikipedia they are the world's second largest shipping line in terms of container vessel capacity. So I guess a few containers are bound to fall off sometime I guess it's no different that the reputation of Egypt Air and Aeroflot whose planes always crash Luckily having been carefully tracking the MSC Monica from Sydney via Perth, Singapore, and numerous ports in the Gulf it occurred to me that I should be tracking the container rather than the ship it was first loaded onto. After a bit of investigation I found the container had been unloaded in Singapore and loaded onto the CMA CGM Columba on route for the Far East to Europe and all of a sudden the container with my van was just crossing the Bay of Biscay and just about to enter the Channel.
It's quite common to tranship via Singapore. A lot of freight goes AUS to Singapore, it's slower but a bit cheaper. Direct AUS - UK ships are often quite expensive, we used to ship 10 x 40' containers of golf course equipment a year from here to UK.

Good luck with it. Its no wonder we have flooding problems in the Uk? Not because of poor flood defences but the sherr volume of Vw Bays imported here ! The rust is weighing the country down hahaha
Quite a lot has happened in the last few months, the van arrived in the UK and we managed to catch sight of her as she left Southampton. I've kept a blog going to record progress but have been a bit lapse posting stuff on here. Compared to the awesome work being carried out by other TLBers using their own fair hands it seemed a bit odd posting stuff being carried out for me. Nice to see another solid RH drive bus in the country. Judging by how much is being done to it, if you'd spent the money on you're anniversary party instead, it would have been the party of the decade. Love the colour.
Looking good!! When you fitted the pop top, did you fit the spare tin roof, or beat the damaged one straight? Tony
It was just the fibreglass that has been reused, it's a large roof so most of the damage was cut out. There was only a small a mount if damage to the edge & gutter which was straightened out. One of the main braces had to be cut but the fibreglass gives the reqd rigidity.
Now that's got me googling, I'm amazed how many different Aussie conversions there were. But doesn't seem to be a Swagman, it's very similar to the Sunliner but the few pictures I have found show the vertical lifting roof with a fibreglass moulded rack fitted over the cab which mine doesn't have?
