I’ve ‘liked’ it, so that you don’t feel neglected and end up with mental issues, like everyone seems to have, these days...

    WOW!
I’ve just realised that I have that crockery set, in the shed! I got it from a bootsale a few years ago for £1.00!
Didn’t realise it was a ‘Devon period piece’!

  6. I get you want originality, but if I wanted a step I would probably bolt on a Land Rover fold down one rather than anything "period"

Looking at the drawing of the step in the Devon accessories photo - I do indeed have a Devon step.

I will snap off some pictures for you.

Rock solid but could do with a cosmetic repaint or powder coating to look it’s best.

    Hi Richard,

I’m not planning on using the side step so yes it’s for sale - looks like it’ll be going to the right home ;)

  11. Thanks for that. @stirlingmoz how is it best to contact you about the steps?

It is for this bus that I have had for over 20 years. All original but missing a side step :-

    Hi Richard,

    Lovely bus :)

I’ve sent you a private message via the forum.

Not sure where in the UK you are based but I’m in Woking, Surrey.

Now I have seen the picture, I can sympathise with people who stood on that in bare feet. Sharp!

  17. Hello,

    - Going back to this old thread as I have not been around much, COVID and other problems -

Can someone let me know what they think of the step in the 4 pictures?

It was advertised on ebay as an original Devon step.

I bought it, but the seams and welding look more homemade than anything.

I rubbed off the layers of paint to see if it was rotten underneath or just the paint holding it together and then sprayed it when that was finished.

The first 3 pictures are more of a close up look and the last is a wider picture of where you would place your foot to step inside.

It looks a bit suspiciously homemade than a proper Devon one.

Can anyone that has or has seen an original Devon optional extra side step give their thoughts.

If the consensus is that it looks a Devon part then I will fit it

    Thanks for helping,
    Richard

I had one which looked similar to the one @stirlingmoz showed. Mine had the same type of mesh, expanded metal, on it. I thought it was home made, never fitted it and I think it went ages ago.

I would guess the expanded mesh was original.
