And today I pottered and made the drawer for the centre of the kitchen unit mounted on recycled filing cabinet drawer runners. Also last pieces of trim on the same unit. Forgot the camera, but that, I'm pretty sure, is that as far as woodworking goes. Get the bed and seats covered and all done. I can't believe I'm so close, I must have forgotten something.

I thought about joining the boys and girls in Notts, but the thought of driving through the wind with me dodgy neck put me off. So I thought if I can't camp in it I'll carry on making it better. Today mainly I've been staining and treating odd bits of trim that got left out and the new parts I made last week. A few pictures of the last bits and bobs. :)
With the drawer finished, the kitchen unit now complete except for the cushions. Closed up in seat mode...

    ...and open...

New bits of trim on the hinge cover end grain - this also builds it up to the level so the back rests on it flush. Planned 8 months ago but now finally fitted...

It's got a bit of oak around the outside honest. lol

...and finally the new RR bed front panel. Yes I know it's red, but that's the only piece of wood I had with the grain running horizontally. It'll have to go of course, but ok for now and easy to replace later. The uprights are red too, but they can stay as they're mahogany. Or maybe not actually. Ugly buggers.

  9. why dont you make a router jig and make it into a panel? like with a panel cutter or groover. Like a box inside a box to break up the shape?

I've got to wimping out point withe spare wheel situation. No spare as yet as I can't get the rear wheels off anyway so it seemed pointless, but today I got 2 tyres for the front and one same smaller size for a spare. And I have an original jack that works so I ordered some adjustable springplates - not so I can adjust the height, but they hinge in the middle so I can get the wheel off.

Now I have the age-old problem of where to carry the spare... :( Not happy, but not AA either...

I think it'll end up on the front.

When I was camping, I found myself wishing I had a table, so I made one.

The leg isn't fixed down though so it'll be susceptable to being kicked out. In time I'll figure out a neat prop fixed to the side out of the way of feet and knees. This leg is made in traditional (for me) style from stuff lying around. The top and bottom are made from a trumpet-like car horn, the middle section from a bit of chrome tube (just had enough), inside there is a waxoyl probe and it's held together with HT lead caps. And the bracket on the wall it hooks into, is an office desk drawer runner. :)
