No not that! Sorry! I used to have a wife for this kind of info - You ladies know about this sort of Tech question and I rarely see you in the tech forum so I thought I'd try my luck here. I need to cut some material and stop the edges fraying somehow. I don't want to increase the thickess so can't add a hem. I think what I need to do is called overlocking? Can I do this with an ancient industrial sewing machine? The ex took her desktop one with her but the industrial one's still here. I recall it has a piping foot, but that's all I know about it.
Super glue is brilliant in stopping this happen both along seams and in any holes. If its for a roller blind you can get some fabric spray stiffener. Super glue won't flex enough.
What kind of fabric is it that you are cutting ? Cottons and more natural fabrics can be cut with edging scissors (zig zag scissors) If it is a nylon/synthetic fabric you can place it under a pillow case and on a fairly high heat iron a few cm's wide so you can cut along the heated area as the heat should have slightly melted the fabtic but be careful as too high and it will melt. Also No-Sew iron on hemming tape is really good. You can actually but an anti-fraying glue if all else fails.
