Oil Leaking Damaged Case Urgent Help

  1. I can use an air gun to get the flywheel nut off but I am not sure how I would hold the flywheel to get it back on. Is there a specialist tool?

  2. There's a flywheel lock available. I wouldn't do them back up with a rattle gun, as you've got no control over the torque.

A flywheel lock is a simple bit of kit and then if you can borrow a Torque Master, you can remove and replace the big nut using a standard ratchet spanner with an 11mm socket driving the gear, and a 46mm on the big nut. And use a sub-100 lb/foot torque wrench going back on, without the engine rocking around with the torque from a long bar .

Any battery electric rattle gun you can afford wont have the torque to do it up or undo it...

  4. @Bay Dreamer where about are you I have a torque master you can borrow if need be and a flywheel lock.

  6. I have an air 1/2” Snap On MG725 which is pretty good. I have no idea what a torque master is and Google isn’t being helpful with an answer. The person I’m staying with happens to have a massive torque wrench here I could use.

Not sure if I am going to take the flywheel off at the moment.

I've used a very good engineering workshop near Salisbury called Formhall (http://www.formhalls.com/). They linebored my engine and they did a great job. The do a lot of serious old fashioned engineer work.

Good people who might be able to help you if they are close enough.

  8. Thanks, I have just sent them an email with details and photos to see if they can help.

Torque meister, cunning but simple, saves you holding the engine down or swinging the wrench at 225-250 ft/lbs
    It's a torque multiplier.

If you have access to big tools, good
But with one of these you can take the flywheel off while the engine sits on a jack in the engine bay, leaning over the top, without having a big bar attached to the nut.

As for searching ..try a little harder.. enter in one additional keyword..

And now its called Mr Torque...
