Just been working on me motor and ckecked about the oil cooler whilst I had the Haynes out. Says it ll be full of oil. Great so whe we do an oil change there s quite a bit of old stuff in the cooler!!!! Oh joy summat else to think about,it hurts. If its sludgey clean yer strainer and stick a fresh filter on too. Fill the new one with oil before istalling. Apologies if I m talking to the coverted
Depending on how long the engine has been stood, plus the age of the engine, there will be very little oil in the cooler... it'll gravitate down through the oil ways and bearings... I've as yet to strip a motor down and have to cooler dump oil out when I pull it off
Well seems that's not the end of my woes: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2h8wtw3dni7xwle/Photo 07-04-2013 14 40 37.jpg I suspect that the carb icing might be to blame making the mix too rich. Only problem now is the barrels look a little scored https://www.dropbox.com/s/mbkrc355dgnomtl/Photo 07-04-2013 14 41 00.jpg There's a definite score in that pool of oil and around the lip the perhaps from bashing the crud... Do I need to sling new b'n'ps in too
