  2. The Victory? Surely you're not that old, @Pickles ;)?

  3. Wondered if they were going to put her up on the Navy trot buoys out of the way, unless of course theyre already occupied by disposal stuff.

  4. Wouldn't have thought the Queens Harbour Master would want that thing going through the harbour entrance, just in case something happened ... the local paper says it is now anchored off Lee On Solent.

  5. Her long suffering generators have just failed, according to the vessel tracker website I monitor.
@fritt interesting they lasted this long!

  6. Yes its bugging me a bit! I started looking but the only stuff I've come up with is for SOLAS which gives a running time of no less than 18hrs, list inclination up to 22.5 degrees or 10 degrees fore or aft. Thereafter one presumes some battery maintained lighting. Somewhere buried in a pdf somewhere must be her original Classification Society Rules as built. Need an expert to hand!

I delivered to the RYB twice. First time I went up the gangland the purser was waiting at the top and a few blokes were organised to unload the carpet. We had a chat and all was fine, off I trotted. Second time. I walked up the gangland and no one was about so I had a wander about looking for someone to take delivery. I was pounced on as I put my head around the door of a posh stateroom looking place. Frogmarched off by two ratings and had a telling off from the purser. I felt aggrieved and told him he should have been at his post not leaving it unattended and taking it out on me when he was found out. The upshot was I was kicked off and told if I had any more deliveries to come, I was to wait at the bottom of the gangplank and blow my horn. Unfortunately I never had another delivery to them as I would have loved to have let them have a blast or two of the air horns on that truck.

  9. I don't know much about the Royal Yacht but in the Royal Navy (and seeing the HMY was RN crewed) we had Pussers not Pursers :p

  13. I think they are producing them Their web address is on the neckline.

  14. Did you like the film? The book is much better though. If you're interested, the 'real' Richard Parker has a memorial stone at Peartree Church in Soton. Google is your friend for details of the gruesome, true story.

  15. I did! Got the book somewhere, which I'll have to dig out. I had read somewhere that if your name's Richard Parker, best not to get stuck in a lifeboat with hungry sailors

  16. Its nearly upright !!! [IMG]

  17. Getting there, I wonder if we will get a chance to see the state of the cargo, once they get her back into port.
They still have to get 'systems' up and running before they can tow.
    Generators @fritt ??

  18. 15 degree or so list it is said. Whatever it is they have done well.

  19. The MCA report seemed to imply propulsion could be available as it refers to tugs assisting in her move rather than being towed which would be the case if she was dead ship. However that could just be semantics.
