http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/sir-paul-mccartney-to-stand-in-for-kurt-cobain-at-nirvana-reunion-8411434.html Gawd help us...
have any of you actually watched it ??? it is not a stand in .... dave g and paul wanted to do a track together and not play a nirvana or beatles song so they wrote a new track. i actually think this is pretty amazing ....
surely thou Macca is like "untouchable" in terms of acually hearing off/realising any critisism of himself?he is , ive read , part of a small crowd known as rock n" roll royalty, a.k.a."well past sell by date but know one has big enough pair to tell him" point made by "my name back" valid , same point made on tv show today>if Led Zep can/did fold a top band cos their(great) drummer died , i think others could/should follow their lead ,(only my opinion thou)it"s music .. it"s art .. so that makes it subjective ?
Yeah maybe its not the best but Macca bashings a bit ******* poor everyone ,he's 70 FFS and his library of songs speaks for itself. He was still OK at Anfield A few years ago Paul McCartney Something Live at Anfield, Liverpool 1st June 2008
They played his Christmas release yesterday it was painful listening when you know how good he was/can be.
I really wish he would quit, I think he ruined the end of the jubilee. For some reason the british public think its a good idea to roll him out for big events, nothing like trying to hang on to the past!!
I don't blame Macca - he must be a pig in Marmite as he regularly expresses. People ask him to do these things and who, were they him, wouldn't go for it? It's just the whole image of Macca singing smells like teen spirit (Yes, I know he didn't!). On the face of it you couldn't make a more ridiculous choice, but then Nirvana aren't Nirvana either - they're in their 50's, not grungy young 'uns. I kinda think Kurt was probably thinking "John Lennon" though...
Tbh they would have been better getting a 'proper' frontman like eddie vedder or chris cornnel to front the show. At least then the perfomance would have felt authentic!
