Hi, wonder if anyone can offer any advice. I've just driven for a couple of hours without any noticable issues, parked up and gone to start it again and now it won't idle and appears to be missfiring. I can unplug the leads going to 3 and 4 (I think that's right - the 2 on the left of the engine as you look at it) and it makes no difference to the running. Unplug 1 or 2 and it cuts out. There are sparks coming out of all leads. What's the next thing to check? Thanks for any help! Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
Do you have a spare set of spark plugs? If all the leads have a spark, it's possible that two plugs have broken down.
You could try swapping the plugs in 1 & 2 with the ones in 3 & 4 and see if the problem moves to the other side, then you'd know to get new plugs?
That's a good shout. Currently waiting for the RAC so got a bit of time on my hands! Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
Pop off the rocker cover that side, check that all the valves are moving. I did once leave the nuts a bit loose after doing some work and the rocker assembly loosened off. Another thought is to check the rubber boot on the inlet manifold for a big split on the 3/4 side. Duct tape will get you going...
RAC are here in 10 mins, so let's see what they say. Thanks for the quick responses everyone, I'll let you know what the outcome is! Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
No compression on 3, we can't see why. Will get it home and have a dig! Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
Pull the rocker cover off on that side check valve gears not fallen off but cracked head or dodgy valve seat is favourite
The garage I usually go to is booked up for the next 6 weeks due to the backlog. I want to go to those guys as they put this engine in and did the last service. In the meantime though, I'm going to have a play. Didn't get the chance yesterday. Trying to be optimistic as I'm meant to be camping on Saturday!! Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
