They did this in france "vehicle de collection" was only allowed to travel within it`s own region ,but they scrapped the idea and now there is no restriction.... I do believe a new government will change the goalposts...
Your evidence shows that classic car collecting isn't just for the rich, rather for those with a bit of foresight. Datsun 100a - amazing there are any left at all given that they rusted worse than a 70s Fiat.
The thing with me is I dont collect cars, or make money on them. I buy a classic because I intend to use it as a normal car, I always have. I prefer things with a bit of soul and character, and best of all simple enough for a simple person like me to work on. 100a's are only different today because as you rightly said they rusted quicker than Fiats and Alfas, but remember these where the budget end of the car spectrum. Nobody in their right mind (not even Chris Evans) would pay stupid money for them, neither would I?
They get the tax from all that fuel the classic cars burn if you drive them at all - not many tanks full make that £220 a joke these days.
Moving to Jan 1974 next year..... Could this be the start of rolling tax exemption??? Would make sense as Europe deem anything over 40 "historic".
I just tried out the website where you check the birthdate of your bus, its brilliant!! It told me the bus was built in June 1976, which tallies with me purchasing it in Nigeria in October of that year. Now all I have to do is wait about three years, and hope that we dont have a change of Government back to the last lot, in the meantime!! I signed the petition, so maybe someone actually bothered to take note. Tony
The website to check your birthdate appears to have been deleted, it was earlier on this thread. Its www.inerd.it Tony
