No power under pressure

Hi all , my 2ltr cj engine starts great , idles great. The problem is that on hills and when I press down on the gas the engine bogs out ?. It pulls away fine in 1st and second . Checked for air leak s and nothing . Can anyone advise what to look for or adjust next . Valves adjusted, timing set ,new leads , fuel pump , coil, plugs and electric ignition and still the same as before with old set up apart from smoother pull from start . Need some ideas please, cheers Mick

Could be dirtndirt in fuel system try running cleaner through it

 

Hi , it just seems to groan but no motion? If that makes sense , no backfire or missed note as such ? . If that makes any sense ? Lol. Pulss away great .

Is this a recent change ?
What happens if you lift up on the throttle, does it pick up ?

 

Has it always been like this or has it developed this problem in your possession?

 

If I let off the throttle it holds it's own but doesn't make progress.

 

Not like this last year or before ?. Took it for a spin apps half mile and this . Noticed a bad rubber joint and changed that but never cured it . Changed other gear as fuel pump failed and due anyway .

 

Can we assume it's sat a while and your petroleum is old or have you topped up the tank?

 

Have you checked the timing with a timing light? Check for full advance operation at about 3k rpm. You should have about 28 btdc.
May be worth inspecting the plugs to give you some idea of whether it’s running weak or rich. While there out do a compression check.

 

New fuel from empty .

 

Checked timing , will do again . Will check plugs and compression. No smoke from exhaust

 

Plugs gapped? Always too big out of the packet.
