Well that's different because if Poles can learn English, they've got a better chance of getting a job over here.:D

Not really. If you seriously want to be snobby, you say "WE are not amused"!

I went to the Czech republic in 2015 to visit a number of manufacturing companies as part of a best practice sharing exercise. The first place was called Foxconn a huge place assembling pc's and ink cartridges, it used to be located in Scotland before relocating to Czech to reduce costs, all the senior management there were Scots.

We couldn't help noticing a huge Portakabin city next to the site and it was explained to us that when the joined the EU they lost around a third of their workforce virtually overnight to Germany, the UK etc and they have backfilled them with Vietnamese who live in the Portakabin city.

They have a large department sourcing them, training them, inducting them into Czech society etc as they have a labour shortage. I couldn't believe the madness of the whole world moving around the globe pursuing employment.

Interestingly enough the average Czech was better off staying where they were, Foxconn were paying around £4.50 an hour which when you looked at the price of accommodation, food, transport etc they had greater spending power than earning £7.50 over here. They told us that the churn was huge as workers worked it out and came back, the irony was that they weren't believed and different people left and then did the same thing.

What will happen when they've all worked out that they're better off staying? - Evict the Vietnamese?

  9. When restrictions on non EU movement are relaxed after we leave the EU, we'll have the Vietnamese and their Portakabin city over here instead - a free market economy and competition is a healthy thing, don't you know..........forget the lip-service reassurances about employment - under the Tories business gets what business wants, they've been lobbying since the day the country voted to leave.

Notice how the rallying slogan went from Best for Britain, to Best for Business?

  10. In Germany, the neo-nazis burn down foreign shops. Unlike the Germans, we welcome workers from other countries and if they make a good living by their standards picking carrots, then they are happy and we are happy.

The Poles came here to work and made good money helped by the stronger pound sterling exchange rate. Now sterling has slumped and the Polish economy has picked up they have gone back home to their families. Fair enough.

Now its the Albanians, nearly all the workers on the local homes development are from Albania. Its all about money, the fat cat developers who are just finance companies, employ the cheapest labour, so make more profit for the directors and shareholders. They bus them in each day from east London.

Do we really think this country is that great and we're welcoming and fair?

I think there is a underlying race issue in this country. The fact people come here and work through the barbed comments, snide remarks, bullying in the work place, low pay, long hours, poor accommodation etc is testament to their resolve, not really our bon ami.

Believe me I work alongside some of these people ( good hard working family people ) and they tell me their stories. My wife's family also suffered some serious abuse when they first came here in the 60's. Some, not all, but quite a few of us should take a good long look at ourselves before standing there and judging what's right and wrong with the Europeans and migration in general. I don't think we would be any different to the migrants if we lived and worked where most came from, we'd be over here like a shot! :):):)

A lot of my mates and families are in Dubai working for the money and better lifestyle at this moment. It's like little England over there. They'll be back once they've made their stash.

  14. well its all ok now. Germany has sent us a love letter saying how much they will miss us if we leave. Please don't leave they plead. But what about Merkel sending Cameron home with a flea in his ear, when all he was trying to do was change the EU rules applying to us, to accommodate our wishes on immigration and border controls. A perfectly reasonable request.

They refused and humiliated Cameron and our country. The shabby treatment of Cameron at that time, showed what an inflexible and bullying outfit the EU is. They haven't changed.

if the Germans really want us to stay, then they are capable of persuading their other EU cronies to change their rules for us. They won't. The love letter is insincere garbage, can we trust the Germans, No.

We have decided to leave and we will.

I agree with most of what you say there. About trusting the Germans though, I wouldn't trust any of the other governments, but we should be well ahead of their games. We just seem to always be one step behind and catch up by doing what they say, usually.

  16. because you're worth it....

  17. Maybe May could go back to the Germans to get a letter confirming they are our friends and promise to give us the changes we asked for.

Oh perhaps not, we got one of those promise letters before and look where that got us.
