Just need it square so the door and panels fit to it. In a house I'd use a level but here I can't. Looks to me that there's more structure towards the drain so that side won't sink into the mortar so much. If it had a flat base as many do I wouldn't worry.
I'm temped to put dollops at each corner and the centre as it looks like you could fit legs to raise it up.

Can you not measure down the wall or up from the floor to the top of the tray to get a line and mark the wall accordingly. Then you could use as much compo as you like. If there’s an edge of screed below the tray use a a plastic cover strip to hide it!

There must be ways to use a level on a moving structure such as a boat but I guess you’d have to be in a stable position to start and work with, which given the variances such as passing movement, movement doing the job etc I guess it would be easier to find a way to do it with a tape measure!

Maybe I could fill it with mortar then when it's gone off turn it over onto a thin bed of mortar. :)
It looks flimsy to me and if it cracks I'll be cheesed off.

Perhaps create a wooden surround say half inch or whatever high all around the area the base sits on. Fill that with compo and put some sealant on the timber to stick the base to the timber and the compo to seat it?

That would indeed get it level. The base and sides are all square at the moment.

PVC the floor timber first or the ply will absorb all the water from the compo!

Yep, and the tray, I have stuff for that - SBR Bond.
I keep telling myself I'll do it tomorrow, I've been saying that since Tuesday.

Timber would probably be my preferred option with a timber floor.

Our shower cracked and you can get repair kits, but it certainly isn’t an invisible fix…. White was more grey!

Ours was installed on the adjustable pedestals which is just pointless when most of the weight of a person showering is in the middle of the tray… asking for trouble.

I’ve since put a bit of timber reinforcement under the tray but I’m waiting for the electric shower to give up the ghost so I have a reason to refit the whole shower properly with a decent timber frame under the tray!

I've got 18mm ply floor + another 18mm ply on top of that. if that cobweb pattern was level with the outer rim I'd just fit it dry TBH but it's recessed average 10mm and as wonky as a wonky thing.

Will you have the waste plumbing all above the floor or does it go through into the bowels of the boat?

If it’s the latter, why not just use a sheet of 9mm or 12mm ply, or better still Marmox or cement board cut to shape below the tray?

Drain is under the floor but the bottom of the tray is all over the place, not possible to support the centre with anything prefabricated. The drain bottom and the perimeter are the same level but the rest...

  13. Would inverting the tray, filling it level with the sides, then fitting work?

Just what I was considering a few posts up^.
I think it would probably be a daft idea though I can't put my finger on exactly why I think that.

Bits od sqaure wood - that's theight I want, So I'm thinking dob mortar here and shuffle it down onto the wood.
Anyone see a Problem? I can - Mortar getting between my wood and the tray, stopping me getting it level.
Maybe I cut the wood shorter or perhaps have 4 short pieces away form the corners and any mortar. Yep Think I'll do that.

Bring the mortar away and use the correct amount rather than banging loads in and squeezing it out

What do you mean "bring the mortar away"
The correct amount seems impossible to judge as the edges and corners are quite a bit deeper than the middle. I'll take some pics BRB.

Away from the timber more towards the centre slightly so it doesn’t squish out to the timber

It's truly a crappy tray, but they don't ever show pictures of the back do they?

You may have to go higher. I can see the high spots now. Use thicker timber and a bit more mortar!
