  1. Cheers Zeb i didn't realise that the merc rim centre bore was that big, i will have to hunting

  2. Not so much an update on the bus but it all leads to the end goal
Got the engine out of the impreza and on my engine stand, concentrating on this at the moment cos i should be leasing a bigger unit from next month so need to be able to move all my stuff from my current rented garage
So that just leaves me with the remains of the running gear to get off the shell and get the shell scraped

The engine is nice dry with no visible leaks apart for the corroded sump which will be replaced with a alloy shallow sump anyway
Really is quite a compact engine this

I have a feeling you're going to make this look easy.

  4. I don't know about that mate, it's taking me bloody long enough tho

  5. Cheers mate, done much to yours lately?

  6. Got the windows out, and replacement engine in but not holding out much hope on that after finding bits of metal in the oil! Hopefully getting the front panel and arches welded on this week.

  7. Decided to scrap whats left of the impreza, me and my bro in law were going to strip all the running gear off but thought better of it in the end
A quick call to the local scrap metal dealer and arranged to get it collected

The son was well impressed with the man and his giant grabber

    Being dragged out the garage
    [IMG]

And up it goes on to the wagon

  8. Made a start on the front inner valance

It wasn't that bad, a bit thin in places but the bottoms of the a posts had seen better days

  9. I was originally going to make local repairs to the valance, but i managed to pick up a excellent body cut off Chrisradioman
Had to remove the remains of the chassis and floor that were still attached

Thats as far as i've got at the mo, next is the trim the a posts on the body cut to match the ones on the bus and get it welded in
But will have to wait till next week now before i manage to get back on the bus now got a busy weekend coming up

  15. Cheers guys, always nice to get positive comments:thumbsup:

  16. I haven't forgot about the gearbox.. Sellers shipment hasn't arrived yet.. There is one on ebay 261228878540 but he wants a whopping £900 for it

  17. No worries dude, in no rush for it lol

  18. Had the day off work on monday as i had to go in sunday night, so i put the day to good use and cracked on with the lower valance

Marked up the a posts for trimming
    [IMG]

They trimmed up a treat, but from then on the thing just fought me all the way, i spent at least 5 hours messing about with it and it's still not right[IMG]

In the end i just gave up, will have a couple of days away from the bus to collect my thoughts, then i will sort it out

Will get some more pics when we're on speaking terms again (me and the bus that is)[IMG]

  19. But the day did finish on a slightly better note

    I saw a face i hadn't seen for a while
