  3. New cylinder head tins and oil pressure sensor, temp sensor, vdo temp and pressure gauges, plugs, Haynes manual, plus some other bits arrived today :)

    Need to find out how to fit the vdo pressure sensor gauge to my block though

  6. ok guys, been busy, started by painting the engine bay with some grey rustoleum, also removed windscreen due to a leak, and have tarted up around the windscreen, i have painted it with standard white rustoleum, it was pastel white, and wasnt sure but am glad i did, 3 layers and the white looks great, needs a wet and dry and buff but the screens going back in to seal it up first due to the fact that the front of the van is jacked up to stop water from pouring in from the gutters! the tarpaulin over the front keeps the rain out, and blue tack in the gutters stops the rain coming forwards.

    started replacing all breater hose joints, and the tank and filler neck joint as both where perished!

  7. also 230V installed, split charge kit obtained, oil temp and pressure gauges ready to be installed, copex conduit run from engine bay to front of van, just need to make a custom stereo/gauge mount, around winscreen now finnished, just waiting on guy to install screen with new seal and with sealant added, new washer jets, new wiper gromets, new bits for rebuilt engine including - hot start, vortex ring, new coil (bosch blue), new plugs (bosch brazil), oil pressure sender (VDO), new pulleys, cleanned (propper cleanned) airbox, k&n, reuse exhaust for a min, new full nut and bot and gasket set, need to source some new heat exchangers but holding out for some good second hand VW,
     
  8. if your ever thinking about fitting twin carbs (and they really are worth fitting ) loose the air filter stand bracket on the right hand side of the engine bay while it's easy to get to
     
  9. ok guys, no update for a while so i'll get some pics up,

    230v install with consumer unit in cupboard, twin socket, 3g switch for small tube heater (until i can afford a propex), 1 set of lights and another set of lights both led spots still to be fitted to a custom ply mount to span the inside of the van,

    new gear nob but need to paint stick

    finished paint around windscreen, screen back in but need do final flat and cut on last coat to make it nice and shiney, annoying little run that i now need to try and remove as i dont know when i will paint the savannah beige parts

  10. filler neck and tank connection hoses replaced, all breather hose joints replaced,

    PICS TO FOLLOW OF VERY BAD RUBBER FUEL HOSES !!

    fire wall painted and refitted, new hot start relay fitted and wiring replaced,

    hoover bit fitted to new cooler,

    heat exchangers and exhaust coated with heat resistant paint to tart it up, and engine all rebuilt, went in the other day after longblock completed by Nigel Allen, and i have refitted fan housing, tinware, alternator, coil, carb etc ready for him to bench test, hopefully have it ready for wednesday when my T5.1 work van is in for its first service with VW and ill have a new empty T5 to put it in to transport it home :),

  16. Yes mate I chose those ones as they where left over from a job I did plus they are fairly low profile so the door still swings open!

    When you finished your rustoleum of did you machine polish it or hand t cut it?
     
  18. the roof i just used T cut and elbow grease

    the rest i still have to get around to doing

    to much summer camping :cool:
     
  19. Some further progress,

    Engine has been bench tested and all clear so ready for my to pick up. Will be refitted tomorrow, taking the day off work due to hold ups on site so should be running if all ones ok!
    Wired in oil pressure gauge today, temp gauge will be fitted when I can get the vdo sump sender in after the 500 make oil change. Tidied the van up off all the junk inside, so ready for the refit tomorrow!
