With the arch now welded in, the cab floor & inner tub was next. I fitted a new outer chassis rail: Cut back the rotten floor Strengthener welded on: Inner tub & floor repair offered up: The new cab floor didn't come with fittings for the throttle linkage rod, so I had to re-use the old one: All fitted & welded:
Nice work. Really need to give my camper a tickle with the welder as the cab floor looks like a volcano is erupting in the middle of it. Assuming its the strengthener on the chassis rail rotting away.
Are the new side panel bottoms just tacked at the but joint and then filled or did you seam weld it? I only ask to see how you prevented distortion.
Same repairs repeated on the l/h side: Outer chassis rail removed New one welded in New outer arch fitted Inner tub fitted
With most of the front end welding done, it was time to move the bus forward so I could get started on the back. Engine out..... Followed by gearbox & fuel tank Lots more rot at rear: More to follow...
You sure you didn't accidentally slip some underwater photos of the Titanic there by mistake, Smeato?
ha-ha! Sorry, I just went for a look and see you've already fized that! You clearly have the determination.
