Hi , Can any body tell me how many miles you get from a full tank of petrol with a standard 1600 engine (roughly) cheers
How long is a piece of string? It totally depends in your driving style but you should get around 220 miles to a tank.
And until you know its own private little behaviors dont totally rely on what your fuel gauge tells you. Leave yourself some breathing space 20 miles worth isnt much when your on a motorway seeing how fast you can go ^-^
I can get 250 but normally fill around 220 I have to rely on mileage as my fuel gauge does not work! 1600 tp by the way
I've just worked mine out for 160 mile trip. I brimmed before I set off and brimmed at the end. Works out as 31 mpg so I must have gone wrong somewhere, that's way more than expected. 1600 single port.
I use an app for android called acar, apart from logging all your fill ups and letting you know fuel consumption it also reminds you about service intervals, mot tax, insurance etc. I did a 250 mile journey and then a few local trips and got 28mpg before I filled up again. My idle mixture is set at 3% CO, I am going to reduce it to 2% to see if my fuel consumption improves a bit more. So Zeds 31 mpg is not inconceivable. Using full throttle during acceleration and on hills has a big impact though, with a full load on and a recent trip to france I only got 15-20mpg, that is unless french petrol is inferior or somehow the pumps over there are not metering properly
Cheers for all your replies , I only asked as my fuel gauge is all over the place one minit it says that it s full then half tank then back up to full it just depend on how it feels, I got 280 miles out of mine sofar and thought it was ready to run out at any moment .
Do you have a bigger tank than normal? I thought it was 56 litre capacity. If you get 400 to a tank have you you done anything special to your van? Do you have standard wheels and tyres? I struggle to see how people can do better than vw did?..
