Well I had a play about last night with the seal again, and to be fair it's better than before, I had to really work the seal in the frame at the catch side, still not water tight as I tested it with water when shut and leaked a little, I may be thinking about cutting the seal and trim here and there bond it in places and using black tiger seal...keep ya'll posted!
I’ve various places to test for water ingress. Don’t fancy pouring water where water oughter not be nor go! Likely never to be seen again as it trickles into unknown nor explored crevasses. I’ve tried shinning torches in and around problem areas. Mostly works in identifying holes...especially if two of you. Local mechanics say they use a smoke machine to smoke out unwanted water entry points. Today I bought a low budget (very low budget @ £1.99) version...incense sticks! Will give it a go up my D Pillar (no rude jokes). Engine & fuel tank are out before you ask. Anyway...just thought the potentially silly idea might help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Water that runs straight through a big hole is annoying. A tiny seep of water into a crack where it sits can be more serious. Its the bits where you cant see the gap that are serious for the long-term problems.. Dont use Tiger Seal unless you want your paint to come off and the seal to shred next time you take it off. Use a window sealant type non-setting mastic to fill up the holes, or when I was desperate once, gunning a water based acrylic sealant in to push the water out (it was pouring with rain, the leaking windscreen corners were filling up the dashboard)
Probably more effective as would create more smoke. Though a waste of said smoke, and no work would get done afterwards...and all would be forgotten ha ha Incense test was ‘ok’. Easy to prod inside places but definitely not enough smoke be 100% sure Maybe coloured smoke would be better...i’m thinking Red Arrows Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Joking aside. You can get smoke pellets you light to check the draw on chimneys. I've got some knocking about if you want them for cost of postage?
Interesting. I’ll look them up. Cheers. Waiting for a quote from a welder...I might not be able to afford water after that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
cutting it will make it worse , get it out in The sun or put a heater on it to soften it and whack the window until it’s fully seated , then leave it closed for a year
My rear quarter light had a rusty frame and when pulling it out it had rusted a hole through the window frame. The water coming through it had rusted out a new jackpoint and rocker panel (though it took ten years) I replaced it with a full pane of glass. I have fond memories of tipping my ash out the smokers window as we rolled down the highway many years ago.
