Hi All, Firstly I have to say - I know "Bob" is an prototype bay but you can blame Rickyroo for me being here after he told me what jolly spiffing chaps you all are.... Ok, so we went to the Isle Of Wight and saw a late bay called Penelope and my wife said " you are going to buy me one of those aren't you?" and the rest is history as they say. We looked at a mixture of late and early bays but settled on Bob after checking him over and seeing he was pretty sound throughout. He is a 1971, 1600 RHD and has lived in Birmingham all his life with the last owner having him over 30 years. There has been quite a bit of welding done already and he has had a fab re-spray done by Stevie Wonder with a Halfords spray can (joking aside it looks ok but I would really like to get it done properly). As you can see from the photos it has all the optional extras going including an interior care of MFI without any instructions. Engine is basically sound (now that the fuel fountain has been cured) but wont idle due to a carb made by children in a 3rd world factory. Thank you again for those of you who contributed to the thread posted by Ricky about the carb. Our plans are to have him as a day van /over-nighter with new interior, new bellow roof material (old one is a moldy as stilton), leisure battery, mains hook up, firetec etc. We are cleaning up what we can and buying new what can't be rescued... MOT this week so that should be interesting! Watch this space! Here are some pics:
Thanks Paley, I am sure Bob has tried his hardest to burn me already with petrol that was being hosed over the engine the other day!
Hello & Welcome from The Colonial Contingent Some of our best friends have prototypes but we don't hold that against them (too much)
I forgot to ask you the other day, how did you get the name for the bus? welcome anyway ignore the "burn the early jokes" some of them get touchy about the £220 road tax they pay. Also a bit of a tip, don't throw anything away you don't want, the cheap mfi stuff "might" be original/useful to someone on a budget, it might even make you enough petrol money to get off the drive.
yes, but for the benefit of paying it i get a warm glow knowing i'm paying my way to our glourious co-elition and our fantastic roads.
