Hi all, Finally got around to creating a new thread for my new van. The blue one is the one I used to own, which I sold in June this year and replaced it with the beig e one (yes I know it is a crossover, and it has the wrong grill and badge.......sorry!) It is a 72 Danbury conversion registered in Jan 73.
It's had a replacement front panel in the past so it has a protruding plinth for the badge to sit on. Not sure the correct size one would fit. The grill annoys me though!
If you look at the first pic closely you will see the bad paint job (done by hand with a brush by PO), the filled body seams staring to rust from the inside and the fully painted window seals. Basically I got the van to a stage where it would need to start spending time and money on the bodywork without knowing the extent of the rust. I found the beige one on ebay for a very good price so I bought it, then sold the blue one for the same price! The beige one was in much better condition externally, just needing a bit of work inside
Thanks for the comments guys. Have a few long term plans for it including a touch of lowering, new headlining, stereo system install and some other bits and bobs. I have a 9 month old baby so haven't had much time to do anything on the van recently!
car boot sale man "nice van mate" you - "cheers" man -"my mate had one" you- "oh yeah?" man - "yeah one of the proper ones with a split you know" you- "yeah" (frowning) man - "couldn't you afford a proper one?" you - "actually i wanted a bay, they're more practical with a family" man - "ahhh but they don't look as nice" you - "ok mate cheers" man - "my mate said you can put a porche engine in one you know, only 4 bolts" you - (under your breath) - f*** off now.
