okies, so some may know i've no heating and no fan not even any pipes, nothing nada niet nowt .....my pipe inputs to the screen under the van have been blocked off too...i've been wondering if anyone has thought about somehow making something "blow" into the front screen inputs just to help clear the screen on a rainy/cold night? for example (and i'm not suggesting i use one...but) if you had an option to run a hairdrier and make the nozzle fit into the air vent pipe it would be perfect as it has a motor and a heat setting built in, does anyone have a link or a product in mind that they adapted to do this? water cooled vehicles are so much easier to heat!.

  2. Source the bits and put your standard heating in dude
A hairdryer would need to be run off an inverter and would drain your battery very quickly

I have been through the same and although i have a propex heater fitted i am accumulating the bits needed to put the original heating back in.

Just need a centre pipe now.

It's an age old problem for camper drivers. The original heating does work if it has no leaks. Pain in the bum putting it all back.

Eberspacher or Propex then. Not sure if these should be used on the move but could be simpler solution and good for camping too.

the propex can be used on the move not sure on the outhers.
Dont bother on the 12v heater you would be better off huffing on the screen.

  11. The only thing those 12 volt heaters will do is flatten your battery
    There utter rubbish

If you do get heat of a minimal variety, it really helps if ALL your doors fit and seal well. I froze my nodules off for 10 years in the westy, then fitted nice seals just before I sold it - the difference it made was amazing - it got noticeably not quite as cold as before. Almost warm.

ok fair comment, i realise there isn't much hope of getting it warm and looking on ebay at propex and eber heaters made me want a lie down.....looks like gloves hat scarf and a lot of kitchen roll just like in the old landy......

  14. Ricky, the quickest, but not cheapest option is a heated windscreen. We have one in the OH's bug and it is a brilliant piece of kit. Can clear the screen in a couple of mins, without waiting for any heat to come thru'... which is just as well as it never does.

I know they're available for Bays as I looked at buying one. They draw a lot of current whilst being used so you'd have to have a decent charging system...

  15. JK's interest free option get your pipes and propex ;-)

I have run a mains fan heater in the van for 10mins before setting off to defrost the window.
Just remember to unplug before driving off.

  17. the best thing if you dont want to/or can't reconnect the original system is always going to be a modernish eberspacher massive heat output very fast but a cheap second hand one at this time of the year is going to be £250+. what about a remote oil cooler and mount it in the cargo area to warm the van through? or what about a temporary pipe from heat exchanger if you still got them? into the cargo area through the bulkhead like in the rear of a deluxe microbus? as zed says good seals will make a big differance holding the heat in once it gets warm
