Lowering

  1. Righto, the front of my bus is now on an adjustable beam fitted with CSP adjusters, by the way they are great piece of engineering.

I'm gonna go for adjustable rear spring plates - question is which ones are best, CE or Transporterhaus? Both similar in price and both manufactured from hi tensile steel.

Has any one got experinece of using either of these?

  2. I think they're much of the same, wherever you get them from. I was told (by someone entirely unrelated to Type 2 Detectives), by a trusted person I know well into his VW scene, that although they might be 20 quid or so more expensive than some of their competitors, the ones to go for were those sold by T2D. So that's were mine came from. And I've no complaints at all. They brought my bus down at the back by the 2'' I wanted (you can go down a lot more, but that's not my bag) and haven't effected the ride quality one little bit. The plates look like they're the highest of quality too and won't ever go rusty.

  3. Is there a minimum drop with the T2D ones? I was only looking for about 25mm - 30mm, but I want to be able to get a wheel off from time to time (hence I'm not doing the 1 spline thing).

  4. I have CE ones and have not found any problems

  6. Paul,

oooh errr - not sure I'm brave enough to do the double rotation thing. I know how to mark the outer end of the torsion bar but how do you measure the number of splines turned onthe inner end?

  9. Paul,

Top tips - I feel inspired to give it a lash - after all ' Dr Pepper - whats the worse that could happen?'

    Many thanks

  10. Excellent

all going well, it should take about an hour and a half per side..

also get yourself a couple of M10x40 cap head bolts, as you'll struggle getting the spring plate covers back on with the correct length bolts

  11. ce make the t2d ones .

  12. masterjedi - interesting ... I never knew CE supplied T2D. It's the CE ones I was considering too ;-)
