Looking for Grease Gun recommendations

Was thinking kind of old style...

 

Good, but they're a lot of mess. The new-fangled cartridge ones are better.

 

Must admit I’ve got 3 old style ones in different sizes… a miniature one from JK which I didn’t realise was miniature and a couple I’ve aquired over the years…..filling them is messy…would love an excuse to buy a cartridge one.

 

Just make sure it takes a cartridge and works

And then there are the cartridges that are 5mm too long or the gun is 5mm too short.

I got mine from good ol' screwfix, seems to do the job: Hilka Pro-Craft Manual Grease Gun 500cc - Screwfix

 

If I find I could have been using cartridges with mine I'll have to duff myself up for being such a plonka.

I've got an old-school Wanner, but filling it up means you get more grease in your hair than in the gun...

 

You can grip it in a vice, not inbetween your legs.

 

I kind of like the ritual of filling up my old fashioned one. It's not like I do it very often and I've still got a giant tin of Castrol grease that'll probably see me out.

 

I went with the choice of the masses...

 

Is there any particularly special type of grease I should be buying ?

 

Lithium complex EP2 (whatever color) for bearings and front end.
Moly for CV joints.
