Took nearly a whole evening getting one door built up! I did get the lock and handle fitted as well, waiting for my striker plates to come from German Camper Co so I can get the doors adjusted properly.

Got these collected on Tuesday from a guy on ebay, just what we wanted, not to big but big enough for what we want. The double is going behind the drivers seat and the single one behind the passenger seat.
The quality is unbelievable for the price and I can fit what I want in the tops.

Got the whole day on the camper tomorrow so hopefully should see some good progress!

  11. Got a fair bit done today, sliding door catches and mechanism all stripped cleaned and painted, sliding door built up and fitted.
New seals fitted to sliding door and passenger door, is it normal for the door to be a pain in the arse to close after fitting new seals? I got vw ones and they fit well.
Dynamat fitted to the passenger door and door waxoyled.
On Sunday I aim to get the drivers door fully built up and all the side glass fitted (what are the vw sliding windows like to fit?)

Kind of wish I had got all the little brackets and bits and bobs cleaned and painted before instead of doing them just before I fit them.

  12. looking good man! really nice progress, keep it up, im feeling the full width bed in the back, the missus wants a bit more space so best keep her happy :D

  13. That was one of the first things to be agreed, it had to have a full width bed!

Got a little while in the workshop, sliding door now has new spring lobes fitted, is lubricated and works well including the lift up to lock function. Side track cover and trim fitted as well as the sliding window.
Tried to fit the rear side window tonight with my dad, after a few attempts we decided to try again tomorrow as no matter what we did we could not get it in, we are using the existing glass with new VW seal. Has anybody got any tips? I used to fit glass for a living and it's bugging me why it won't go.

It's easier to fit window before side cover. But the rear side windows as you're finding out, are the most troublesome.

  16. Thanks Zed, I will try again tomorrow but with the track cover off.

Got a bit more done at the weekend! Drivers door complete and working, d/s middle sliding window fitted, satin finish dash front fitted (the wife didn't like the shiny one) and dash wiring started.
Still couldn't get the rear side windows in..........F@@@@@g things! Rixy is coming over tomorrow night and we WILL be fitting the rear side windows and tailgate while trying our best to sing along to the mighty "D".

  20. Well Rixy came over as promised and we now finally have the two rear side windows fitted!, he has also sorted all of my locks so they operate with one key.

On my lunch break today I decided to be creative and trim one of the front arches under the seat.

Quite happy with how it has turned out, might do the other one tomorrow! We tried to fit the tailgate hinges but realised that I have lost the bolts! Will get some new ones tomorrow.
Little by little it's coming together, can't believe not long ago I was ready to give up and get rid. Bloody glad I didn't now!
