Hi, since I picked Lola up from the garage after having the oil cooling tower replaced she hasn't wanted to run (unfortunately Mr Garage isn't co-operating). She was missing and cutting out at low revs on the way home. I took her out yesterday and she ran like a bag of spanners. Now she starts but no matter how many revs you give her she peters off. Possible fuel starvation??? I asked the garage to move the fuel line so the filter wasn't sat on hot bits and they have just replaced part of it with a metal pipe. The filter is sat the opposite way round to the arrow - is this going to be a cause??? Losing faith in T2's - please help before I turn to the dark side (T4) >
The filter arrows are mainly because fitted the other way you can't see what crud is in it. As for running, they could have knocked the timing out. Check this first. Or the fuel hose could be restricted by the new pipe. But above all, take it back.
She was running sweet as a nut then spewed oil on the way back from CamperJam, she was still running fine tho - I topped her up and ran the engine to dry it off after cleaning it. Had her lorried to the garage and apparently the oil cooling tower was full of gunk so she'd blown the seals. They replaced the tower and seals and changed that petrol pipe. I contacted them yesterday and just got a snotty message back. Have had a quick poke about myself to look for anything obvious and not only does the fuel filter appear to be the wrong way, the battery terminals weren't tightened, there was petrol leaking from a pipe with no jubilee clip and a cigarette laying in the engine bay!
My old garage had retired and this was a recommendation off VZI - I obviously have tw*t across my forehead. Cost me £300 and I still can't use her - when this is sorted I WILL be looking to take it further - there must be a garage ombudsman or something
Give them miss and go somwhere else. It could be time to teach yourself to fix them its very satisfying.
You've been had Rach. Well maybe not had, but the garage you're using don't know what they're doing and don't care.
check plug leads are right, especially if its missing! get it running then take one off, if it stalls then that ones ok, try another. if it doesn't make any diff then try one next to it as well, still no diff, then swap then over.
