  1. It's been reported that the content supposedly pulled for causing some offence? Wasn't intended for broadcast anyway???

  2. Yep, the top bod needs to go.

    Need to be consistent.

  3. So…. Tory Home Secretary makes overtly inflammatory statements using language intended to demonise and stigmatise all people arriving in the uk across the channel by rubber boat by calling them criminals and invaders so as to whip up support for new laws amongst right wing nationalists.

She is accused of using language similar to that the Nazis used in the 30s (to whip up support from right wing nationalists) by a sports commentator who works as a freelance for the BBC.

The head of the BBC who is an ex Tory politician and local party chairman for the party decides the commentator has broken rules on impartiality based on some rules that haven’t quite been made clear as yet and so the whole thing is apparently all the sports commentators fault.

At the same time the Home Secretary is defending herself for using inflammatory and derisory language in a letter to Tory party members accusing all civil servants as being lefties or part of a lefty “blob” or some such odd language, and stopping the government from implementing its policies. She says she never sent it but her name was on it and that it was someone else. This is the same person who don’t forget has already had to resign for lying and trying to blame someone else

I know what I think and I think… well done Mr Lineker but would add that he should most likely have blamed Ian Wright or Alan Shearer for hacking his account as a jolly jape.

So I do hope Gary has a long tenure at the BBC. Probably longer than the current DG and most certainly longer than our fantasist, (big boys did it - honestly sir!,,) narcissistic Home Secretary!

As for her comments then it’s not only this is it. She speaks the language of hate as did her predecessor to whip up nationalistic right wing furvour and to move the agenda to the right. We’ve seen how that ends up already… as per Mr Linekers comments!

the nazti party needs to go.

Last night on Question Time, Fiona Bruce defended Stanley Johnson with regards to violence against women. WTF?

As long as the ruling party are not insulted or negative comments made about them then it seems okay to the BBC.

  7. So what is the consensus on the comments and input of Boris Johnson's wife and the King's wife to influence the justice secretary to keep Robert Brown, the killer of Joanna Simpson, behind bars, despite a legitimate entitlement to automatic release?

  8. A totally different can of worms...

For my tuppenceworth on the original post , he's got an opinion which he expressed - nothing wrong with that but likening todays UK government to the Nazis is sick . Genocide apart the current lot are slowly but surely becoming a dictatorship which in a roundabout way in my opinion is what he meant to say . So , he's a well paid footy-ball pundit ??
BBC are willing to pay him his millions so more fool them ...

That’s there’s something seriously wrong with a system that allowed an automatic release of a person assessed to be dangerous.

If politicians did their jobs properly it wouldn’t need other people with profiles to have a word.

Personally I hope some good comes from all this, I can’t stand Lineker and I never have, hopefully the BBC will get shot of him permanently

  12. Lineker was vilified by certain sections of the press, no doubt briefed by Govt, as it diverted attention from the outrageous things said by Cruella. It is important to note that he is freelance and is not directly employed by the BBC. His contract from what I have read is as a freelance, and does not prevent him voicing opinions, which is why Davie has been in discussions with him to change this. He has not therefore broken his contract, but has been ‘stepped back’ from presenting because he would not agree to a revision to prevent him airing his views. I thought we lived in a country where we were free to voice our views, but sadly this is disappearing.

On that note I will be stepping back from the forum for a while. While I have breakfast.

  14. that argument just doesn’t hold water in the real world. When I contracted for British Gas I was a freelancer but I was most definitely bound by their codes of practice and their behaviour requirements. Plenty of which believe me I didn’t agree with. But I had to keep my mouth shut. Same as when I worked in the printing industry as a youth, I did a lot of freelance work, I couldn’t be on site and spout anything I wanted by saying sorry I don’t actually work for you.

The BBC is the state broadcaster. As such it is funded by everyone. Therefore it must at least pretend to abide by its position of impartiality. If Mr L doesn’t like this position then he’s free to try to earn a million quid a year from a private broadcaster instead.

At last! No presenters or pundits on MOTD, tonight. They talk drivel anyway. I always fast forward to the football. Much better without them.

He is entitled to his opinions as everyone else is . It's basically the level he went to which is the mistake .
Politics always leads to trouble ...best avoided a man in his position . Best talking about football and footballers and football clubs and of coarse advertising potato crisps .

Is Alan Sugar paid licence fees money for The Apprentice? If so will Swella, Nadine, any of the right wing press, be citing his tweets as an example of not showing impartiality? Or is it only one’s that criticise HM Gov that are up for discussion?

As for a football pundit sticking to what he knows best and not commenting on stuff outside his “sphere”, presumably I should only talk about Nursing and keep my opinions to myself.
