  1. Lets hope he stops tweeting his froth as well. Or rather, lets hope his froth stops getting published on the assumption that it is news/newsworthy......

  2. It's like emails you get at large 'corporations' that start with...'it is with mixed feelings that I announce that xyz will be leaving our company....at insert date which is the last working day of the current week.'

I hope he continues to speak his mind, just to pee Swella, The Daily Mail/Express/Currant Bun, off. He couldn’t stay at the BBC, but it’s not like he’s short of a few bob. Good on him

  5. I’m not getting into an argument on whether he was right or wrong, but his attitude when being questioned by the press was a bit conceited.

Shame it falls to football pundit to do the journalists jobs for them.

There was a time when journalism would have cast a critical eye over this, researched it, shared various left and right viewpoints.

Not any more - there is no credibility in that profession anymore.

Btw - its the fact that he's on the BBC - ANYTHING they can do to collapse what remains of the freepress they do......these are the same ball bags who bang on about freedom of speech.

I’ve always thought of him being overrated and full of himself so no great loss
The BBC could save a few quid as isn’t he one of their most paid stars.

He ought to learn how better to choose his similes as we live in different times now.

Turned into a right hornets nest!!

  12. Yes, I agree, let him express his opinions, but not whilst employed by an organisation that I am obliged to pay a licence fee for.

He's well suited for a role in main stream media if he wants to rebrand himself as a political commentator. Hopefully take Gary Neville with him as well.

There’s a reason to pay for the licence so someone of influence stands up and calls it for what it is.

tbh I’m sure if he had pointed at a dingy there wouldn’t be the outrage, just saying.

  14. But not whilst employed by that very organisation based on impartiality.

He needs to be consistent then, wasn't at all happy when it was pointed out that he used complex tax avoidance schemes in the past, just saying.

He could of course resign from his role as a sports presenter then get a gig as a freelance political commentator on the numerous programmes the BBC broadcast, he won't then compromise the impartiality agreement he signed up to.

thanks fo just saying, I appreciate it. But that’s a bit of the what ifynism to deflect from what he said.

  17. No it's not, if you wade in to social equality issues then you need to be consistent, bemoaning immigration policies is one of many aspects of a fair society, as is paying your taxes to help pay for the society we would all like to deliver and benefit from

  18. I think he probably believed that he is just too important for the BBC to get rid of him. Same with Shearer and Wright. Someone might wanna point out that the bbc let the top gear three go, despite that program making them tens of millions, I highly doubt the bbc top brass will shed a tear not having to shell out his million quid a year.

I see this in quite simple terms. If you agree to work for someone and take their money then you abide by the contract or don’t sign it in the first place. He’s been warned once, possibly twice. In any other business if you broke your contract or the company rules you’d expect to get sacked. He believes he’s very special. Unfortunately for him it would appear that his employer doesn’t share his views.
