I know regs is regs but the RCD is double pole. The MCB will be double pole to protect against reversed polarity issues I would have thought! Mine are single pole but been in there for yonks. I carry a socket tester which checks polarity for me and as its a schuko connection I can turn it around!
I'm not going to disagree with your response Matty, but I still hold with my original view that given the number of electricians on this forum, a kit of the same and probably better spec could be put together for considerably less....
I like the RCBO solution if Im honest. Its not exactlywhats required and doesnt have a single isolation switch (unless you fit one). I would go further and say whats wrong with one 16amp RCBO feeding all sockets and using a switched fused spur for mains charger and one for fridge if its 3 way. I might go this way meself!
You can't rely on the hookup you are plugging into being wired up correctly, reverse polarity is when the live and neutral are the wrong way around. With a single pole MCB if the polarity is reversed the MCB will be switching the neutral, thus leaving the live conductor still live, but tbh the RCD is double pole anyway. As said you could just carry a socket tester like a martindale to check the polarity before you start using it, which would be better than swapping your lead around incase you forget to swap it back!
You could take your feed into a double pole main switch in your CU, then feed your RCBOs through that, that way you have a single point of isolation, and 2 pole and 30mA RCD protection on all circuits if you want. Plus an additional MCB/RCBO takes up less room than a switched fused spur!
You can do it how you like its only when something goes wrong it will be a issue. A van is a dangerous environment and this is recognised by the fact it has is own section in the regs along side things like swimming pools As a electrician i will only advise to do it as per the regulations, they are not law but if you ever end up in court they will be used Even with trade prices i still think tis kit is very good for a easy all in one kit with all the correct parts http://www.xtremevan.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=5013
