  1. I want to rewire my van when I make the new interior. Is this kit suitable or would you recommend something else?

    Thanks

  2. Sod that Colin...these bundle kits are at best average....list what you'd like to install, or what you want to be able to do and between TLBers, I'm pretty sure we can spec a better kit for less

  4. Cool :)

I just need to get the 12V and 240V in, so I guess

    Split relay and wires/connections etc
Battery charger for 240V )I was thinking this)
External mount 240 hook up box
    240 distribution box
    12V fusebox
    Wires and connectors

  5. re-post to ask a an electrician to source you a 2 or 3 way RCD....flex and cable can be bought from Farnell, or Vehicle wiring products, use two bosch relays rather than 1 split charge, second hand zig unit or distribution board with 240v-12v transformer/charger

  6. So basically the 240 side is standard household stuff?

  8. the very same....but smaller RCD....2 or 3 way is more than enough for a camper....Hager or MK are the ones to look out for....you can buy cheap 'garage RCDs on fleabay, but if @chrisellby has a discount card for City Electrical Factors, I'd try these first, for the RCd and the flex (3 core 6mm^2 insulated)

  9. I used a ctek, and I used an intelligent relay from ebay which works great, the consumer unit is one that made up out of a 4 module ip rated enclosure a 30mA RCD and 2 breakers all left over from jobs, plus fitted some stainless sockets and a stainless 3 gang switch to control the 12V leds and 230V heater.

  10. 2.5mm 3 core is more than adequate for a standard hookup which is only rated at 16A, 2.5mm multicore flex will supply over 28 amps all day long

  11. What size wiring do I need for the split charge? Could you point me at a relay please? :)
    Thanks guys this is brilliant!

Going to disagree with some of the posts above
The electrical regs say you must use 2 pole mcbs most of the other kits and the ones sold as garage kits have the wrong values and only single pole mcb

That kit you linked to is very good and i cant get separates cheaper

    Have a read of this

    and

This kit is better then get a ctex charger instead of the one they spec in your link

  14. The mcbs I fitted originally are now rcbos after I looked into the regs, that way you can use a smaller board, as a 6 module board and double pole mcbs are not cheap
10amp RCBO for sockets and 6amp RCBO for the charger (CTEK) can be had for £11 a piece plus vat

  15. Make sure you also bond the chassis

  16. @matty how many extra double plug sockets would you be able to conect upto the extreme van kit. just thought about adding more for differant areas of the van

  17. Yep...my mistake....been putting the leccy in my garage....got 6mm^2 on the brain

  20. I'm assuming he'd change the MCBs to suit...they're about a tenner...less if you're trades
