Hi all I attempted to fit led bulbs for the indicators but they flash very very quickly so I changed the flasher relay unit to a led comparable type and they wouldn’t work at all, also had issues with the stop and tail bulbs where they fit but won’t work.As anybody else had the same issues?
Led lighting seems to be a dark art . I watch Dr zzs. On youtube , more decorative string lights but everyone seems to struggle, theres always a resistor to add or a sacrificial LED that seems to sort things out.
Tail lights.. clean the connections, make sure the spring contacts in the bulb holders are shiny. Because they draw less current you dont get the arc that cleans the connections... Flashers- if you bought from classiccarleds.co.uk, then check the wiring... If you bought from eBay then buy a flasher relay from classiccarleds...
I’ve found with leds if they’re in the wrong way round they won’t come on at all, very polarity sensitive.not like standard bulbs which work either way Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I recommend classic car leds (the supplier). The tail, reverse, etc eg 21w replacement bulbs are all non polarity sensitive and seem very high quality. I have also fitted warm white led headlight bulbs too - fabulous
Same here, except I kept the H4 headlights, just warm white sidelights. The brake/tail lights look much better than the originals. TBH, I'd give up on the indicators - too much bloody faff. How often do you change an indicator bulb?
I initially replaced the sidelights too as low current DRLs but went the full hog.... Also agree on the indicators as hardly on.... I do also drive a BMW....
I fitted LED rear indicator bulbs and stop and tail, agree about the contacts for the stop and tail gave up on the indicators as @snotty says too much faff so fitted them in the reverse lights.
I would try the LED ones... you dont know how bad stock H4s are by comparison. After all I found I could almost see to drive on LED sidelights alone.. If you use classiccarleds indicators and their relay, the system works... and they are much brighter improving visibility to others... just like the tail lights everything is twice as bright..
Mine were a tight fit due to the heat sink at the rear of the bulb. One did - just but on the other I dremel'd a fin off the heatsink to make room for the double insulated power lead. It appeared that my headlamp units were different brands. The bulbs from classiccarleds are H4 so you have to buy the adapter for them too to fit the lamp (in my case with my cross over 71/2). Well worth it though
Does any one have the CLASSIC CAR LED part numbers to hand for the: Headlights & adaptors Indicator relay Or ange Indicator bulbs Cheers
