Hello everyone, there are some mistakes (e.g. bumpers) that I am willing to overlook - also for reasons of stability when driving. - prototype bay sliding door (recessed grip different to late bay), - two color seperation on the Porsche version (only roof white like prototype bay), - prototype bay silver version of wipers, - as already written: early chrome version of rear locks, - as already written: silver sliding door 'U' shaped hinge missing - as already written: the prototype bay large VW front logo on some Porsche versions - but at youtube it is the correct small one. I also installed the early chrome rear locks (instead of the black plastic ones) and silver wipers (instead of black ones) on mine 1979 because they looked nicer to the other chrome of my L bus. - but yes, they should be black in this case of a late bay. I'm not sure which one to buy and modify to my bus. the decals are not flat and seem to have to be sanded down with great difficulty. Hope to get the "idee+spiel" version without decals (but very expensive - other versions are already much cheaper available than first list price). regards,
I had scalextric as a kid , recently bought two newish kits from charity shops to play with along side the grandkid , i see its play is exactly the same as in the 60s , i.e , tracks dont fit together well , cars constantly coming off at the bends and you spend more time fault finding than playing at racing , still, better than computer/ console racing as the exercise running around looking for the cars and bits is good , also although only six the grandkid is learning fault finding skills and basic electrical circuits, but not much on car racing around a track
But than the exhaust side (right) would be wrong - the early 1.7 l 66 hp type 4 engines model year 1973 are to the left.
Finally it is here! Although I think this might be the only one in the Uk at the moment. The Carrera distributor is notoriously bad at communicating with it's retailers about when they might get things to sell
it's a slot car to drive not one to race, they're top heavy obviously, but still fun. For perspective a good car without magnets should get round my track in under 6 seconds, the T2b WITH magnets managed 7.1 as it's not keen on R1 turns LOL Took the magnet out... 10.1 seconds - now lowered, tyres trued and a bit of chassis shaving for some body float and magless it's now down to 7.9
