KWIK FIT - Loughborough

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Bernard Fishtrousers, Apr 27, 2017.

  1. I've not been to KWIK FIT for 22 years, I remember it well.
They only had to fit a set of rear pads, but they used such cheap copy parts that they didn't have the wiring for the wear indicator and I had a low pad warning light on for a couple of months until I re-did them myself.
I always said that I'd never go back and I haven't until last Thursday. They've an offer on where they'll recharge your air-conditioning but if it doesn't work and there's a bigger problem then they won't charge anything. What's a chap got to lose?
Off I went, like a lamb to the slaughter and left my car with them at the designated time for an hour. I returned, chap says, 'Sorry, it didn't work, we drained all the gas from the system, but we couldn't get a vacuum so that indicates a leak and/or another problem'. I asked if he's any idea where the problem was, but I was treated to just a shrug of his shoulders. Not a bother thought I and went to visit a local air conditioning specialist who, drained 148 g of gas from the system, keep up folks, the very system that had been drained the day before. They tested for a vacuum, it was fine, so they replenished the system with 600 odd g of new gas. It works perfectly.
I rang up the manager at the Loughborough branch of KWIK FIT, a complete buffer of a turd called Adam Sell who did his very best to baffle me with total bull-frog and corporate clap trap. I'm afraid to say that I hung up the phone on the twunt whilst he was still in full flow and left a glowing* review on trust pilot instead. You really wouldn't believe would you, that in this, the era of instant internet accountability and shaming that a national chain like KWIK FIT could be so utterly, dismally incompetent. I've heard tales of folk being mis-sold stuff they don't need and being charged for stuff that's not been done, but just to park my car in their garage for an hour and tell me a story really beggars belief.
I hope that you all join me in telling your tales fun and frolics at KWIK FIT in this thread so that before very long, anyone searching for KWIK FIT may be directed to it

Always been a company that tries it on - always shock absorbers in my day. Like you say, I'm surprised that they are still operating in the same way these days.

  4. I got them to replace 4 tyres once, not a problem, a reasonable price, and job done

......4 months later when I wanted to remove a wheel, I discovered they had cross threaded every nut and done them up so tight, drilling was the only way to remove them

  5. I had a mate who back in the 80's went for an interview at Kwik Fit. He was about 18 years old and didn’t have any mechanical experience and didn’t even own a car. And according to him when asked what experience he had he replied “None, but I can do your song and dance” which he promptly started doing! …and he got the job as a fitter!

So whether his story was true or not, it shows you the level of people they are / were willing to employ!

Kwik rip off. I have never ever had a good experience with Kwik fit staff when asking a sensible question. Avoid and be happy!

  7. We had Kwik Fit account cards about 20 years ago. Every time you went in for tyres they would say it needed shockers and/or discs and pads. The f*wits never checked records so they would say the Mondeo needed them every time - I'd then present them with their own guarantee paperwork and claim my free replacement set of whatever needed doing.

can't get Marmiteter that a kwik fit fitter

  8. Where did you end up going.ive had a similar story with mine but think they have actually fluffed it up. Could do with someone that knows their eggs really and loughbro aint far for me!

  9. I live in Castle Donington so I've used this lot for tyres & oddments for years & years.

Air -con was just £39.98, they've a couple of blokes who work on it regularly and you get a print out & everything.

  10. Cheers. May just give them a try!

  11. Another bunch of sharks are NATIONAL tyres. About 10 years ago I had the wife's 3 year old Ka MOT'd at a local garage and it was all good apart from an advisory on a couple of front tyres, they were the originals so no problem. After shopping around NATIONAL came up with the best price so I trotted down to the place and after about 15 minutes some oik masquerading as a manager came out and informed me that the front anti-roll bar bushes were shot and would I like them to sort it while I was there. He looked a tad crestfallen when I told him that was odd as I'd had it MOT'd the day before and I certainly wouldn't require his services anymore:rolleyes:.

  12. NEVER go to quick Fit. . They are proper chancers. My sister took her car to them for an MOT once. This list was incredible. Why she went there God only knows but...
We looked over the can and took it to our local MOT station. It only needed one new tyre and that was borderline. Kwick fit said it needed brakes, shocks etc...

I had a blow out about a mile from a kwikfit a week or so ago. £209 for a bloody tyre!
Didn't have any choice unfortunately as I was about 50 miles from home.

  14. I don't normally frequent Kwik fit but i have used them twice in the last four years and both times very positive outcomes. But apart from that, yes they're Marmite.

  16. I went to kwik fit once for an MOT as they were at the end of my road.

High top T25, so I said to the tester mind the roof when it's in the lift. He took offence at this, and took great delight in raising it up until virtually touching a roof beam - idiot did most of the test on tip toes whilst huffing.

Then he raised up the front to test steeeing and wheel bearings and smashed the roof vent of the van into the roof beam, cue a big noise and lots if splinters of plastic and fibre glass. First words out his mouth were that it wasn't his fault.

They only agreed to sort it all out when I spoke to head office and suggested a complaint about their conduct to VOSA was required.

We agreed on a cash sum for a new roof vent, and the spurious brake, shock absorbers and exhaust fails and advisories were removed.

Whilst I was sorting all this I watched them fit the wrong exhaust to a fiesta using a club hammer to 'adjust' it....

Absolute cow boys that prey on people who don't know any better.

  17. Very common occurrence. What happens when spanner jockeys get paid carp wages that get boosted with bonus. Had mine in for MOT, happened to walk past whilst it was on the ramp being inspected. Lad was going in with an oil can to rear brake drums...Hmmm. Finished in town and got a fail for leaking rear brake cylinder.
I did enjoy that days particular rant. Alex Ferguson hairdryer level. Got a good echo in there too.

  18. I went into the one in Norwich, which was just a few doors up from my then work, to ask about two front tyres - I had already shopped around. The kid behind the counter quoted £120 each for two mid-range Falkens for Mrs Skutterbob's Fiesta. "Shall I get them put on then", he said eagerly. "No" was the reply and a few people in the reception area listened when I told them that City Tyres less than half a mile away had them in at £47 each.

They once also tried to flog me some front discs for my Golf. "They are getting a bit low". I declined and at the next MOT, my local garage said there was at least 70% left!
