Kitchen Gas Vents

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by LDM68, May 14, 2021.

  1. We are hoping to add a kitcen unit to the T2 and was looking for advice regarding gas vent, I assume there should be one in the gas locker (for 907 bottle) and another below the hob? I am guessing they need to pass through the floor and belly pans which look like they are welded on? Seems wrong to be putting holes into a camper!

I am leaning towards building the unit and then have someone fit the stove/gas, any recomendations, we are in SE London / North Kent.

I’m not sure about job one, but one in the gas locker through the floor. Tho if it goes into the belly pan will gas accumulate there? You could take it to a caravan/Motorhome type lace and ask them to have a look? Or just ask the questions of their safety check person.

Tho tbh I think it was only my T4’s that had the safety hole in the floor.

    ps like the Capri :)

  5. Just make sure it can drop out under the van.

  6. LPG is heavier than air, unlike natural gas. So it has a nasty habit of ‘pooling’ and waiting for a source of ignition. So any vent you have must be to outside air. It’s no good just ducting it to somewhere else to collect. I don’t hold the leisure vehicle lpg ticket so I can’t tell you the exact measurements but I don’t think the drop out vent is particularly big.

  7. That’s the second sensible answer I’ve given this week.

I don’t like this at all. Yuk

  12. Off the top of my head 50mm gas vents is what is required anywhere the gas can potentially leak and pool. Thats what I did with mine.

  13. Cheers - thanks for the replies

Same, with a pipe to get it out past the belly pans.

  15. Westies had quite a big square floor vent

I've got one...ready to fit. Had it for 6 years now, it's in the gas cupboard so I don't forget.

A plastic liner/tidy thing for the hole. I'm still saving for an original Westy hole.

Seriously though, it was sold for the job and it's quite small, maybe 40mm dia hole.
