I started undoing everything on one side at the rear as I'm about to lower it 1 spline. I can't manage to loosen the handbrake to allow the springplate to drop down. I have already removed the hub and freed the cable off the hook. It just won't push back through the backing plate. Have I missed something? I lowered my beetle a few months back and can't remember having this issue.
    Thanks

The metal part on outside of the backing plate is the end of the flexi conduit. molegrips, twist and pull.

    Brilliant! Thanks Zed
Was considering this but as I didn't have to do it on the beetle (must have been looser) I didn't fancy ripping something off.

Just in from work and had a look at this. The cable pulled through no prob. Thanks again @zed

  5. Just as a side note, you don't need to pull the HB cable out if you are lowering the van...

All I do is unbolt the drive shaft from the gearbox, remove the brake hose clip from the A arm and the split rubber o-ring from around the solid line, and with a bit of gentle persuasion the whole lot will come away in one piece, and tuck up under the van!!

I can lower or raise the back end of a van in 3hrs
