Thing with MOTs is they're only allowed to use finger pressure, so if it doesn't crumble away in your hands, then they have a hard job to fail it!! But like Para said, it's all down to the tester on the day!!
Structural parts they need to "TAP" providing they have the right echo and not a dull sound, if the latter time to dig,my old mot man was proud of the wear of his hammer/screwdriver tool ,I cannot really picture him using finger pressure ,it`s for your own safety...
It all feels solid but for the hassle i think i will change it The jacking point is ok as long as i don't remove the belly pan if i do it will need as new sill and i was hoping to put that off untill next year.
I cant see the jacking point? This is the rearmost crossmember isnt it.Mines getting that way (on my list of things to do). Im pretty well aware of work that needs doing chasis wise bit I put belly pans on to protect but which hide most of the nasties anyway. If they cant see it they cant test it. If you had a centre belly pan on this wouldnt be visible. "30cm rule bud." - 30 cms from what?
one of mine is crushed due to jacking/bottoming out on something (previous owner) on my 1st mot the guy said is wasn't structural so i've left it.
You probably just need to decide whether your going to agonise about it or just get it in for test as early as you can giving you some grace time to get it sorted and retested before your old one expires. It isnt "dangerous" as such and if it does pass then you can do it at your leisure. Cant help thinking that you need to do some rust prrofing, paint, waxoyle, underseal...something to protect under there as its a bit scabby (so is mine btw dont take that to heart)
Thanks i think i am going to do this its £30 for the panel and look easy to do. i have painted the front half with Epoxy Mastic 121 but not done the back as i knew i would have to do this work
took a pic of mine for you today, no rot just crushed, mot man said ok. you can see where i bolted a plate between the small split.
