plenty in the the shop here Nipper, I will do my best to post tomato pictures when I can Tomorrow is Andalucía day so no tomatoes tomorrow
"Merseyside farmer Olly Harrison, who has his own YouTube channel Olly Blogs Agricontract farmer, says the supermarkets’ unwillingness to pay a fair price following energy price hikes has meant many British farmers have simply stopped growing tomatoes. “It’s not Brexit; it’s not climate change; it’s basically people not wanting to pay enough to keep them on the shelves, and there being too much risk and no profit in it, so everyone has stopped growing it.”
Don’t you be coming on here with your actual real world evidence. This has been caused by brexit and you know it. These kinds of fact based posts are dangerous and frankly I’m surprised the mods have allowed it. I’m currently suffering with a horrible flu like cold and I’m 100% sure I wouldn’t have it if we’d stayed in the EU.
https://amp.lbc.co.uk/news/food-shortage-uk-farmers-tesco-aldi-asda-morrisons-brexit/ Here’s one from the Brexiteer Nick Ferrari’s radio programme on LBC. More evidence ….
And yet the same broadcaster thinks it's due to bad weather. https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/tomato-shortage-hits-britain-poor-weather-europe-africa/ One thing's for sure - whatever angle you take you'll be able to find quotes and articles agreeing with your viewpoint.
Yes and yet within the article The UK’s reliance on a grower outside the EU due to Brexit is mentioned - the EU will supply their nations first in a shortage as it’s an easier market to access without the paperwork to export to us.
I think that many many economic and social parameters are affected by ‘our’ choice to leave the EU - if you voted for it - own it. Good or bad outcomes …you won, it’s yours.
I didn't vote, I was happy to accept the result either way so I thought I'd leave it to those who were getting so excited about it. It is what it is. Onwards and upwards. One thing, I seem to remember a big difference between those who wished to stay or leave was the acceptance and readiness of the leavers to pay for it down the line, compared to the remainers who were more focussed on economics and travel and how it would effect their wallets. What we're "paying for down the line" does seem a tad unclear though I have to say! Politics vs economics? Was that the real divide?
you know what - I didn’t vote either!! Although it was more a case of the postal vote registration being returned as incorrectly signed or something and then me working 200miles away from my voting office…
As a country the UK was always going to be less well off after breakfast, that much is, and was, obvious. The trade barriers erected make this self evident. What got my goat was the reluctance of the Tories to admit that was the price we had to pay for arm wavy stuff like sovereignty etc.
No pain no gain nothing worth doing was ever easy Etc etc (insert appropriate business management waffle speak)
I don’t know anyone among my circle of remain voters who didn’t accept the result. That doesn’t mean we can’t voice our misgivings about what it will mean for trade for this country. Like it or not economics affects us all and certainly while companies are reluctant to invest here then that will have a negative effect for some time. I don’t know how long that process will take to improve.
Funny how the brexiters ignored that as meaningless, but the remainers think that brexiters are so thick they took it at face value and what's more voted on that single slogan. lol Rude really?
